Yes! Recognize the flaws in our democracy, but the first step in correcting them is to vote for a party that isn’t amplifying them. It’s a tiny step, and don’t assume voting for Biden fixes anything — it’s just the beginning of the fight.
The choice also ought to be easy for any reasonable person: that other party is the home of QAnon, the emerging prion disease that is eating brains softened by decades of Republican propaganda. QAnon alone is the one issue that ought to resolve the debate for any atheist (not you, David Silverman), because that crap is one terrifying cult.

I was blindsided in 2016 by the widespread view that I was expected to hold out for a candidate I actually liked. Maybe there was a little hint of that in 2000 with Naderism, but I have been voting for the least bad candidate since I could vote in 1984. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ll do it this year too. This so far from “Whoopie! Biden’s the greatest!” that I don’t even get what the debate is about.
And the stakes are very high this year. Or possibly it’s already a lost cause. The stakes were already high in 2016.
You may vote for Biden, vote for Trump, or abstain. Abstaining counts as 1/2 of a Trump vote.
Voting for a third party is precisely equivalent to abstaining in our system.
I’m sorry, but with all that’s going on right now, anybody who comes here and brags about their purity for their 50% Trump vote just makes me see red right now. I come here to get away from the chucklefucks on the television, but there is NO ESCAPE.
I’m always astonished when Biden supporters use “least worst” as their descriptor. That’s not Biden. That’s not even close to Biden. Of the declared candidates who appear on my state’s ballot, hands down the least worst is Howie Hawkins. Biden’s history shows that he’ll just be Trump without a Twitter account. (Hell, writing in “Mickey Mouse” is “less worst” than Biden.)
(It’s absolutely hilarious that people are saying Biden will have to take action to “correct” the Supreme Court because of this anti-abortion nominee the Republicans are pushing. I absolutely guarantee you that if she is confirmed and he is elected, Biden will refuse categorically to meddle with the Supreme Court in any way — there won’t even be any mention of the “expand the court” idea once he’s in office. Getting Roe v. Wade overturned has been his career goal and lifelong dream, it’s why he sabotaged resistance to Clarence Thomas, and pretending it’s too hard to try to reverse the damage is exactly the sort of thing that the Democrats have been doing for decades under the guidance of people like Biden.)

In the increasingly unlikely event that Trump is re-elected, or the significant possibility that he stays in office some other way, well I can’t really predict his preferred method of extrajudicial execution, but it’s a pretty safe bet that he’ll start murdering journalists. What the hell would be stopping him at that point?
