After I finished today’s grading, I whipped up a little video. Why? Because I could. And because Rhawn Gabriel Joseph is up to mischief again. He’s claiming to have found mushrooms on Venus and Mars!
Sounds like the guy was on mushrooms when he came up with the idea of “mushrooms on Mars/Venus”.

Richard Hoagland? Now that’s a blast from the past. I think I stopped looking when he went to Facebook many moons ago, but I guess he’s still going with his fourth rate bullshit. I mean, when you’re discussing conspiracy theories like “Was 9/11 Only An Eerie Foreshadowing of a Global Covid-19?” you know you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Apparently, he “delivered” a “briefing” on “Off-World Image Anomalies” through “back channels to the White House” a couple of years ago. Some things never change.
I am aware of two maladies that came from space.
One was a horrific and tragic loss of three cosmonauts to decompression and vacuum exposure.
The other, severe dyspepsia, secondary to it clouding up when trying to observe rare astronomic phenomena and every other damned telescope on the planet is booked to look elsewhere.
Maybe it’s time to reread the Mushroom Planet books…

Mushrooms at the temperature and pressure that prevails on the surface of Venus wouldn’t be mushrooms. If one introduced mushrooms to those conditions they would almost instantaneously produce a fair utility for charcoal artists…if they didn’t first burst to smithereens because of their moisture content.

Real question is: Are they fun and where can we get some?

Excellent video. A good old-fashioned debunking.

Hi PZ,
Nice video and production values. If you have a moment, could you let me know what microphone you use?
