There are rumors that, by the calendar, we had the first day of spring. The calendar lies. It’s -7°C out here, and while a lot of snow has melted away, the trees are still bare and the lawn is sere.
I’m not calling it spring until I find the first spider outdoors and Mary comes home.
It’s nearly 80 degrees in Maryland. It’s late spring here.
Here in Massachusetts we have had a very mild winter and the tulips and daffodils are coming up 2 weeks early. On the other hand, we might get several inches of snow on Monday. March can be either winter or spring here, sometimes changing day by day.
Locally here in S.France it’s been c.18–20℃, sunny, and (finally!) no Mistral, just a light breeze. Of course it’s a bit difficult to enjoy with France being in mandatory Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, and with restaurants, cafes, bars, and the Mediterranean (and some other) beaches all closed.
It is 5 C (41 F) here in OK, and damp and cloudy. While warmer than where PZ is, it is still not spring-like. Fortunately it is not windy. The wind chill would be terrible.
Had to turn on the air conditioning yesterday. Now just turned the heat back on.

Here in Monterey, Ca. I have Calililies and Lantana blooming on my patio. Plus, we’ve gotten a lot of wonderful rain over the last couple of weeks. At least, there is something to be thankful for!
It is still Non-Summer here in England. The usual grey murk persists. It is reassuringly ordinary.
Thanks to what I can only imagine are the peculiar orbital properties of our country round its star (that is how these things work, right?) we have just the two seasons. Non-Summer lasts for the majority of the year, while Summer happens in three one-week installments at random points between May and August. Heretical poets and climatologists have posited the possible existence of a third season – Daffodil Season – between the end of January and the beginning of April – but they are doubtless in the pay of Big Daffodil and can be safely ignored.
I might have mentioned this before, but some data suggests The Virus is sensitive to heat and cannot survive outside the body as long.
Best case: Springtime heats up, and you get a reprieve until fall/autumn. By then we will have plenty of antivirals that are confirmed to be effective against COVID19. And face masks aplenty.
Springtime : it is no longer possible to walk to Finland across the Bothnic Gulf.
The bears should come out of hibernation soon. People are already beginning to use bicycles (with winter tyres).
Just been to the local bature reserve (her in the UK) where Mrs Duck is leadiung her 10 ducklings around the pond. It msut be Spring.
