I can’t bring myself to celebrate Limbaugh’s diagnosis. I watched my grandfather (who was in the Navy and at the site of the Pacific atomic tests) and my uncle (who was a quartermaster in the Army during the Vietnam War, and handled massive amounts of Agent Orange) die agonizing deaths from lung cancer, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Mind you, the only thing I wish for Limbaugh is a swift and painless death, but the news itself just makes me feel faintly queasy, because I feel a little sorry for the scumbag.
But this? I can dance to this. Dance and sing and laugh.

Pence would be an instant lame duck. He has zero charisma. 2/3 of the country disagrees with his social conservative platform. And he would have less than a year to do what damage he can at this point. No way he would win re-election. According to some Washington “insiders”, DJT wants to send Pence packing anyway.

I’m conflicted as well for similar reasons. My best friend just finished treatment for breast cancer. 15 months of treatment total over the last two years. Rush, and his kind, are a scourge upon this earth, but lung cancer is an ugly painful way to go. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Strange that the Stormer has lasted this long only to fail financially in the Trump Presidency. My theory? All those fascist goons are now shovelling their money straight into the Republican Party instead of subscribing to the Stormer.

As late as 2015, maybe even after, Rush was still denying the links between smoking and heart disease and cancer, and proclaiming that tobacco wasn’t addictive. This was long after even the most dedicated of corporate-apologist whores had given up the ghost about tobacco and health and admitted the obvious.
I watched my dad die of lung cancer, and it was pretty horrible. I don’t really wish it on anyone, even someone as vile as Limbaugh, but I’m not able to drum up a lot of sympathy, either, given his tobacco-pimping and the horrendous impact he had on public discourse in general.
I do regret that neither Christopher Hitchens or Gore Vidal is around to write his obit.

It’s almost like relying on the kind of amoral assholes you recruited because they got a chance to troll and terrorize people who couldn’t fight back, many of whom have only embraced the ideology because they feel like losers and get to be told they are a winner by sheer chance of the genetic lottery rather than any hard work, and who are often dumb enough to get grifted by you, is comprehensively a bad plan that doesn’t pay dividends in the long term.

I’m not conflicted at all. For the amount of damage that sack of shit has done, a slow painful death by lung cancer is the least he deserves. I hope he dies in demented agony, convinced in his last half-conscious moments that his God has send him to Hell and his chest is literally, not metaphorically, on fire. I hope they find him sprawled out on the floor in a puddle of stale urine and terror-diarrhea.
No, I’m not a nice person. But this weird reverence we have for death and dying and the dead squicks me out something fierce, especially when it’s someone who, history will show, was one of the main players in dragging this country down to its humiliating destruction.
