Jacob Wohl: In the running for dumbest person on the internet

Fresh off his trip to make up lies about Minneapolis, Jacob Wohl crawled back under the rock he came from, but not before giving a big interview to USA Today. He gloated about the Minneapolis trip.

He flew to Minnesota last week to “investigate” the rumor that Somali-American Rep. Ilhan Omar married her brother, a mission for which he tried to fund-raise $25,000 from his online followers. Wohl’s trip to the heartland devolved into bizarre tweets in which he suggested that Minneapolis was so overrun by Somali jihadists that he had to wear a bulletproof vest and travel with a team of “security professionals.”

That isn’t the big news, though. The important thing he did was to brag about creating multiple fake accounts on Twitter and Facebook in order to intentionally undermine the next presidential election with fake news.

No, really.

He bragged about his secret operation to corrupt a federal election to a widely read newspaper. There is stupid, and then there is Jacob Wohl stupid. The result was inevitable: he’s been permanently banned from Twitter.

Twitter banned notorious Trump supporter Jacob Wohl from its platform on Tuesday, alleging that Wohl broke the site’s rules against creating fake accounts.

Wohl’s ban came hours after he boasted in a USA Today interview about his plans to create fake accounts on Twitter and Facebook, which he said would be used to manipulate the 2020 election.

“The account was suspended for multiple violations of the Twitter Rules, specifically creating and operating fake accounts,” a Twitter spokesperson told The Daily Beast.

Wohl had already created several fake accounts before he was banned, according to a source familiar with Wohl’s activities on Twitter. Wohl told USA Today that he intended to use the accounts to help Trump in the 2020 election, pushing Democratic primary voters to back weaker candidates who would be easier for Trump to defeat in the general election.

He’s still on Instagram and Facebook — Facebook, because it is notoriously the worst social media site for enforcing even its ineffectual rules, worse than Twitter, if you can believe that. I suspect he doesn’t care about the ban anyway, because he was creating fake accounts…so he’ll just create more fake accounts. He’ll have his friends create fake accounts. There is no credible authentication on any of these sites. And so the manipulation will continue.

It’s possible he’s not the dumbest person on the internet, just one of the least ethical.

So now he has created a rumour that Minneapolis is a Somali war zone. It will do the rounds and grow in the retelling, like Pizzagate. He has set Twitter up as the ineffectual enemy of the people. He has signaled that everything about the next election is fake news, confusing those members of the electorate who don’t know how to fact check, reason or give a shit. Seems like a big win for the bad guys.

Has Fix given him a job yet?

You know, an enterprising lefty vlogger should walk in the Chucklefuck Twins foot steps with a video camera and show just how dangerous that neighborhood probably isn’t.

how dangerous that neighborhood probably isn’t,

It is not at all dangerous, it is practically the UofM main campus. I'm sure that the CFT's were terrified by non-white people and block after block of independant shops that don't cater to them, and restaurants that serve various cuisines from all over the world. It closed recently, but Cedar-Riverside had the Triple Rock Social Club for 20 years, a punk vegan bar and restaurant with live music. On the opposite side of the the freeway is another countryish venue known as The Cabooze, which adjoins another nightclub that specializes in Harley riders. (you can walk under the freeway on Cedar, all of these are right next to I-94) The most dangerous things a reasonable person would expect to encounter are bad drivers and icy pavement.

I believe that honour lies with YouTube.

In a perfect world, this clown gets into an urgent medical situation, goes to the e-room, and gets treated by the M.D. with very very very very dark skin. Maybe even from Somalia. Almighty God has a sense of humor sometimes and this would be perfect.

DanDare: Minneapolis has been known as a dangerous no-go zone where they shoot down helicopters for years already. These two are using the lie someone else told as backdrop for their performance art.

So far that race has him neck and “neck” with a dead spider!

  8. kestrel says

@archangelospumoni: This happens and I bet it happens all the time. For example the Partner works in the ER and just last week a patient was being treated and suddenly said, “You’re not Democrats, are you? I don’t trust Democrats” and the doctor responded saying “This is an emergency medical situation, politics do not apply here.” When in fact, pretty much every person in the room was a democrat and many of them were gay to boot. Just imagine needing emergency medical treatment and saying such a thing… personally I’d be glad to get treatment, I would sure not worry about the politics of the care providers.

As to this Wohl person, holy cow. What an idiot.

No, that’s still Jim Hoft, but that attempt to accuse Robert Mueller of sexual assault puts Wohl up there in the running.

It’s going to be weird for the Hamberdler though when he notices the lack of a nose up his ass next time he tweets.

    I’ve seen this before too.
A while ago some young guy walked into the ER and demanded to see, ” a male doctor”.

Sorry guy, that day, the entire ER staff was…female.

@numerobis#6 yes. That’s him this works. Build a network of historical lies that reinforce one another.
The audience are the folks who don’t know how to fact check or reason and who thinks authoritarianism produces truths.
The difficulty is alerting that audience to how skewed their perceptions have become.

It’t not that they don’t know how to fact check, it’s that their self-worth is predicated on never, ever fact-checking.
