I’ve listened to short clips of Joe Rogan — I can’t stand much more. He’s a pompous dudebro who’s usually having conversations with other dudebros, or some famous IDW twit, and he’s a terrible interviewer. So here’s a perfect example, another short clip in which he’s hanging with his entourage, bantering with some barely coherent gomers, talking about the time he went to see a movie in a black neighborhood, and his first thought on seeing the audience was that this was the Planet of the Apes.

Yes, it ends with Alex Jones decrying Rogan — they’re apparently having some kind of feud. Don’t care. They deserve each other.
There’s also an extended clip out there in which Rogan goes on to say that it was a positive experience, that the crowd was generous and fun, as if that salvages him from being racist. No, guy, it doesn’t: if your first impression on seeing a black person is “non-human primate”, you are definitely racist as fuck. You don’t get to say you’re not racist, the best you can do is admit that you are racist, but that you’re trying hard to improve.
Unfortunately, he could develop into a saintly egalitarian in the future, and I won’t know it, because watching that clip already exceeded my yearly quota of Rogan, and I’m not watching any more.
No surprise there. He has been a sexist and transphobic asshole in the past as well. I mean if there’s one thing we can expect from the IDW crowd, it’s bigotry.
Of course, you’d have to recognize that there’s something wrong with it first.
I tuned out a few years back when he allowed one of his celebrity guests to rant about his divorce and recent ex-wife and they both went on about complaints they about women. Yikes.
Admittedly, the most of Rogan that I’ve seen was from the News Radio days, but I’ve seen him do a few decent interviews, such as the one with Brian Cox, which I just watched a few days ago. Following that, this is as disappointing as the first time I checked out his stand-up on YouTube. Yet another one of those reasonably smart people that for some reason too often insists on thinking/believing/acting stupid.
I thought he said he was going to see the movie “Planet of the Apes”, and when he got there “it was like Africa”. I assumed he meant the crowd was mostly African-Americans. The other things he said were pretty awful though.

Rogan knows a lot about fighting. When he talks about fighting he’s always very knowledgeable about history of past fights, offensive and defensive moves, and everything related to fighting. He also knows a lot about fitness, strength training and even doping. For a lot of other topics, his comments are worse than useless
He also likes talking shit about overweight people and dressing it up as concern.
I recall him being a moon hoaxer. I stop listening to him after that.
Joe Rogan is really actually very entertaining. He’s a smart guy who has changed his feelings on things over time. He used to be a total crank but now he’s pretty much a skeptic and always has great science and Skepticism guests among the comedians and athletes and, well, everyone else. Just a few weeks ago he had David Sinclair, a Professor in the Department of Genetics and co-Director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Aging at Harvard Medical School. He still says dumb shit once in a while but it’s mostly smart and funny. His interview with mycologist Paul Stamets was particularly good.
I’m not too surprised that you can find a video of an edgy stand up comedian who does hundreds if not thousands of hours of podcasting a year making a racist joke. It wasn’t even a joke it was a humorous comparison. If there was a pattern of this type of speech I would call him racist, but there isn’t and I’ve never heard anything racist on his show from him. Be makes fun of Brazilian accents, which is pretty funny actually. This video was from a while ago and he’s changed a lot of his views over time.
Anyways you guys should check out his podcast, it’s actually really funny and smart. It’s definitely better than this article. I usually like this blog but I’ve been listening to Joe Rogan for a long time and that video and this article don’t represent what you get from him at all nowadays.

Just FYI, “JRE Clips” is in no way affiliated with Joe Rogan. They’re clickbait posts for the sort of people who enjoy “Ben Shapiro destroys xyz” videos.
I also listen regularly to the JRE podcast and think any claim of racism is ridiculous. The fact they had to go that far back to find something remotely racist kind of proves the point.
He’s not for everyone though and that’s fine.
