I keep showing photos of the grandchildren, but my children are also doing stuff. Here’s Alaric, hanging around backstage with Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein.
He didn’t invite me to join him, prolly cuz I’m old and boring.
I see the family resemblance, no offence intended to Alaric.

I was going to jokingly ask which was Alaric since you didn’t specify. Apparently your son attended a horror punk metal band gig. Doyle himself was a member of the Misfits which used to include Danzig, but things got contentious. Oh wikipedia says they got the band back together with Doyle, Danzig, and Slayer drummer Lombardo. Unholy crap (in a nonderogatory sense)! Did your son watch Doyle or Misfits? That’s an ignorant question because I know nothing of this stuff except some Danzig solo songs in the 90s (and Slayer!!!!). Similarly I wasn’t into Black Flag but picked up on Rollins’ solo stuff in 90s.
For me epitome of punk-metal is Soulfly. Don’t judge! And Swede metal band Meshuggah made me feel my age as in the words of Roger Murtaugh “I’m Getting Too Old For This Shit”. At least Metallica and Pantera had relaxing moments to accentuate the crunch. Not Meshuggah ever!
It’s the off to the Welk bubble machine for me. I’m feeling old.

Alaric really resembles PZ. Oh, and Alaric is the middle name of our newest grandson. Great families think alike!
He doesn’t look a thing like me! He’s much younger, and his hair is red.

No bubble machine for me yet. Sepultura doesn’t annoy me. They rightfully piss me off. And I used to think this problem was confined to countries such as Brazil. This song:
Sepultura had an angering social justice edge despite their being relatively well off in a place that spawned Carandiru and Candelária. They reset my moral compass. Meshuggah does no such thing. Metallica did with snippets from the Trumbo film in One! That’s what music is supposed to do. Piss you off properly.

Did you have the best-known historical Alaric in mind when you named your son? Was it your secret hope that he would grow up to sack Rome?

Perhaps he wanted him to be a goth?
PZ Myers says
Yes, of course. I knew he was a little Visigoth from the moment he was born.
