Woke up this morning to learn that the current president* is tweeting out serious allegations against Obama.
Is it legal for a sitting President to be "wire tapping" a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 4, 2017
I'd bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to Election!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 4, 2017
How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 4, 2017
And then, to top it all off…TV ratings.
Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't voluntarily leaving the Apprentice, he was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me. Sad end to great show

Take his phone away and put that child on a timeout.

It’s nice to see Trump experimenting with expanding his vocabulary and including specifying parentheticals to help us understand the specific facet of badness he has in mind.

“The Keystone XL oil pipeline won’t use American steel in its construction, despite what Drumpfh says. White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Friday that’s due to language in an orange presidential directive issued in January. The directive applies to new pipelines or those under repair. Sanders said it would be hard to do because the steel and stuff have already been purchased. Or something. Whatever.

odd (not) that news of DAPL exemption to the steel mandate was the day after 45* said in his Congressional Address, “ALL PIPELINES WILL ONLY USE ALL AMERICAN STEEL” next day we learn “yeah, except DAPL was already exempted”
He said that to Congress, on National TV, after so many have been noting that DAPL is using Chinese steel, even though 45* had previously attacked China for selling us their cr@ppy steel. So no matter how you spin DAPL, it always comes out (in 45* speak), A LOSER.

Given Team Tang’s penchant for projection, I think that Team Tang has just announced one of their strategies for the next election cycle.
Conservative authoritarians tend to behave like the old Soviet Union. If the USSR was planning to destabilize a government, the first clue was always (well, during the Cold War), articles in Pravda, or Izvestia or Red Star (the Army’s newspaper) decrying CIA interference in that country. Then, when the Soviets did interfere, they could point to the articles in their free press showing that the CIA did it first and they are merely protecting the proletariat of that country from the depredations of capitalist running dog’s and their stooges.* Now, when Trump and Team Tang get caught bugging the phones at the DNC offices in the Watergate** building, he’ll have a ready-made excuse which will be bought by a significant number of Americans.
Just as the GOP complains continuously about voter fraud and voter registration fraud (to reduce voting by the wrong people) yet almost all the fraud cases brought in the last two or three decades have benefited the GOP. Just as Trump and Team Tang complain about paid protesters at Town Hall Meetings when the cheering crowd at Trump’s candidacy announcement and his speech at the CIA were either paid actors or paid staffers there to provide the cheers.
We are lucky, in a way, that Trump and Team Tang are so fucking incompetent. Imagine what they could do if they had a clue how the world and government actually works?
* This in no way implies that the CIA was NOT interfering with governments in other countries, merely that this was a classic ‘tell’ for intelligence officers.
** I have no idea where the Democratic National Committee headquarters is actually located, I just used that building as a pulled-out-of-my-arse example.

Arnold will just go on to make more movies. How many blockbusters has Trump made? Though ineligible by birth could Arnold have made a worse president than Trump? The only way is up when the bar goes that low. Arnold has more stock phrases. On way to Marine One : “Get to da choppa!” He did offer to switch roles with Angry Cheese Puff. But the guy had his own personal foibles obviously. And how well did he work out as Governator?
With Flynn gone and Sessions under scrutiny it’s ironic Trump makes reference to Tricky Dick. His own presidency is off to an inauspicious start. But that’s because the lying fake news media. It couldn’t be him. Seems that at least several times a week something bigly bad comes out in the press.

While Republican AAhhhnuld is quite flexible. Recently learned he was originally supporting Kasich, in the primary. When Kasich tanked, Arnold switched over to Her>
His twitter war with 45* is quite amusing, all initiated by 45*, Arnold is simply replying to 45*’s brainfarts.
He has also gone totally green energy, saying “…oil is okay but finite. Renewable is they way to go and will bring more employment building all this new stuff than just drinking the last reserves of oil supply. And one must also consider the disease resulting from all the ash oil puts in the air we breathe. Better to draw energy from the air than to use air to dump our waste into.”
so uh yes, i think it too would vote for him when USC is amended to allow “Citizens of more than x years” as opposed to “Natural Citizens older than 35 yrs old” to be President. (if Dems put unacceptable Dem up. They do exist I acknowledge)
His best line, IMO, not the words but his vocal expression while speaking it:

Yeah Arnold seems to have a moderate to liberal tendency in some areas. One of my criticisms of him though was that he was Bush Sr’s fitness tsar and someone who kids looked up to as a role model for working out (cue Hans and Franz), but I recall some of his movies having those dreaded fast food tie ins. Last Action Hero at least.

Didn’t Trump make a formal speech recently in which he condemned partisan attacks and urged Americans to work together? How does he relate that to tweeting at some ungodly* hour of the morning to make unevidenced claims about Obama himself ordering wiretaps on an opponent for political reasons?
*I suppose all hours are ungodly, for at least one obvious reason.

Isn’t that allegation litigatable? Trump is too wuss to try it (and knows it’s horseshit) but Obama or relevant people in his administration should be able to take him to court for false accusations or something, right?

I am wondering what the prospects of impeachability or the 25th amendment would be. The latter was obsessed by O’Donnell on MSNBC:

Sounds like wishful thinking.
And would the current critters in the House make the move to impeach if it came to that?
And the result? Pence either way, correct?
Anyone see that Sandler movie Click? Would fast forwarding through 4 to 8 years be worth it? Where’s Walken? At Bed, Bath and Beyond? Meet y’all there.

re @11:
totally agree, Arnold not my 1st choice. Merely acceptable, given the qualification I included @10.
45* has set the bar so low that any Rethug is above it. However Arnold may be a RINO, for votes in a GOP district. His attitudes seem to be leaning much more Progressive these days, maybe in reaction to 45*.
sheesh, I like Arnold stage presence, not so much a fan of his overall politics nor his scandal riddled private like. oops
just @10 stating he’s “better than 45”.

Interesting to look at The Governator and 45.
Both were elected for the image they were perceived as.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected with some enthusiasm by the tea bag crowd because they thought he would be like they want him to be but he turned out to be much more of a traditional republican and a some what rational one what got him in trouble was his child by the maid and not being an ape shit crazy radical republican.
45 on the other hand is just what the tea baggers and alt right wanted an irrational ignoramus like them. but he still is not a “conservative”

Everything is a distraction for everything else, been there, bought the shirt. There’s no reason Trump can’t be hammered on multiple fronts and I’d think that a high profile court case would be an easy blow against his credibility. The most dangerous thing that I’m worried about is that by ignoring transgressions he sets the bar so low that he gets away with the bigger ones. If he can do this with impunity why shouldn’t he get away with Russia?

Given that Trump has done everything he accuses his political opponents of doing, I have to wonder: Which political opponents has Donald directed the intelligence agencies to spy on? They already unapologetically declared they were keeping a list of enemies…
thirdmill says
Which is more terrifying, the possibility that Trump actually believes he was wiretapped, or that he doesn’t believe it but said it anyway?
Yesterday I had lunch with a friend who worked in the Nixon White House. I asked her if she saw any parallels between that president and this one, and of course she did — ten minutes’ worth. She then said she saw two important differences, though. First, Nixon at least went through the motions of pretending to not be a crook whereas Trump doesn’t even bother to do that. Second, Nixon was finally checked and balanced by a Democratic Congress, which we now don’t have.
wzrd1 says
There’s one big difference between Nixon and Trump. Nixon was an experienced and competent politician, Trump is neither.

Someone should clue in the Donald to the obvious fact that maybe the reason his telephone calls are being recorded (assuming they are) is because the Feds are tapping the RUSSIAN telephones.
