I almost sent you this one PZ. I saw it yesterday when my wife emailed it to me from an article in Duke Today. She’s a librarian at Duke and the researchers who published this study are a grad student and her faculty collaborators at the university. What I found most fascinating about the study is that she did much of the research by reviewing video footage from MBARI ROVs. It’s a fine example of how general gathering of data over a wide range (as MBARI often does) can benefit researchers in pursuit of more focused research.
