The GOP is working on it! If they can only burn just a few more gigatonnes of coal…

Rubio just gave his “I’m winning in third place!” speech, and Trump thanked everyone for helping him come in second when “they” told him he wouldn’t place in the top 5. Except . . . two days ago Trump was telling anyone who’d listen how he was going to win. Cruz, who in my opinion is barely less awful than Trump, has yet to speak. Emigrating is beginning to sound attractive.

Speaking of “retro”… Fuck. Another gang of neo-nazis gathered in Sweden, here in Umeå this weekend, presumably to imitate the Stockholm rampage against refugee children.
But as they gathered in Ålidhem centrum, just outside where I live, some of them were recognised and the police were alerted. The police presence apparently made them call off whatever they had planned.
They were mostly not locals, when they pull a stunt they usually gather from far around. This makes them seem more numerous than they are, Also, they can hide in the anonymity of a crowd, especially if they are dressed alike.
DLC, do not let this make you scared of Scandinavia. The precautions the nazis take show they know they are a tiny despised minority.

Are you kidding? Of course they were.
They served on school boards and were quite big on personal morality (and national defense, apparently). It’s all very similar to the attitudes and politics of the family values crowd of today. I think this is best explained in this infographic, here…
…though of course some commenters insist the similarities portrayed are there by design, I reject this simplistic and reflexive appeal to teleology.

I wonder how Trump likes being the first loser? Will his appeal decrease now that he’s been shown to not win constantly? Will he claim that the whole campaign was just a way of advertising his newest reality show?

Can we have laser raptors, like in that eighties tribute film? Please, please, please!
I support this effort, if only because it makes Provo, UT easily submerged if we can just keep burning more fossil fuels. Last night was a squeaker, for the first time Hillary Clinton actually looks vulnerable. Rubio did better than expected, but I thought going into it that he’d be the establishment GOP choice, so didn’t really shock me much.
I was at a dinner the other night, and some bonehead was talking about all the problems Texas is having with immigrants. So I suggested that probably the best way to handle it would be to give Texas back to Mexico. It was great. You could have heard a pin drop.
I guess where I was going with that was … maybe we could, you know, talk them into seceeding?

Bring back Lake Bonneville.
(Note that, at its maximum extent, Lake Bonneville covered about a third of Utah and was 1050 feet deep. Those “shelves” you can see on the mountains in back of Salt Lake City are former shore levels of Bonneville. Notice that they are far higher than any part of SLC today.)

Cool map! Can’t wait. Phoenix would finally have oceanfront property without having to wait for the Rockies to crumble.
