American Atheists has stepped up to recognize some of the new media promoting atheism — blogs, podcasts, all that stuff — with the inaugural ‘EVOLVE Awards’.The first awardees are eminent and deserving…follow the link to find out who!
I love Doctor Who, but this last seaon has been a big disappointment.
The acting and characterisations are fine as always, but the plots… sigh.
I mean, look at some of the stories we’ve had so far:
* Living snow
* Living wifi
* Living star that eats memories
* Time-zombies in an exploding-yet-again tardis, magic reset
* The Doctor jumping into his own “time stream”
The last of which, aside from being nonsensical and dumb, contradicts most of the rew rules about time travel we’ve been given.
To top it off, the Doctor has basically become a space wizard waving his magic wand to solve problems.
I hope they can salvage something from it with the next part.
They’ll be accepting nominations for the 2014 awards in the fall, they say. Remind me when it gets closer; we can send them a long list of rather less slanted nominees!
But let’s not forget that the current winners are most definitely deserving, despite having so many penises.

Ibis3, sounds about like the same ratio as our political leadership… My response to all of those status quo patriarchy supporting screaming goats that come out of the woodwork, who say everything is hunky dory, is:
Send me a note when half of all positions of power are held by women. Until then, I take it as a sign that we must being doing at least some things that are righting the ship if you’ve been riled out of your comfort zone, privileged, good ol’ boy ‘merican stupor to notice.
This is actually quite a good metric as to how badly we, as atheists , are failing.

Thanks, Kagato. I was afraid it was just me.
I’ve still got 4 episodes still to watch, and not much enthusiasm for the prospect. At least one episode that I have already watched didn’t seem to have a plot at all.

They apparently think Dr Who is science-fiction and promotes atheism.
(Heh)
LykeX says
Well, simply having atheist characters is enough to qualify. There’s no requirement that the show as a whole be explicitly atheistic.

Shit. Sorry. There was supposed to be a spoiler warning at the top of that comment.
