A reader sent me a link to a site I hesitate to reference, just because I know some people will be aghast at the exposed mammalian flesh and weird exploitation of women…but it’s got tentacles everywhere, and molluscs, and even a few arthropods and a giant salamander. The title, Tentacles of Desire, and the list of organisms tells you what it’s all about. If you’re easily offended or squeamish about slime or freaked out by perverse fetishes, don’t go there!
Otherwise, though, just consider it a celebration of biodiversity.

Some of the images are cool, if kinky, but I really have to wonder about who thought goldfish were sex on fins.

“Celebration of biodiversity.”
Now *there’s* a euphemism I’ll have to remember… ^.^

Wow. Talk about unsexy photo shoots. “Now make love to the octopus, darling!”
Eclogite says
I think you need to create an entirely new category for that. “Weirdness” doesn’t quite cover it.
Some of the images have a very artistic quality to them. So are just freaky fetish shick.

I’ve always wondered a bit about those Japanese drawings and statuettes. Japan was rife with fishermen, they eat octopus, so they have to know that beneath those tentacles is a big nasty beak. So what did they think.. Well. Never mind. I guess it ruins the imagery to ponder too much the details of morphology.

Don’t let the wingnuts see this. They might honestly think PZ is trying to endorse octopus-marriage rights.
Of course it will be funny to see them list off how allowing people to marry octopi destroys traditional marriage and is the reason Osama Bin Laden and the terrorists will win.
Marrying octopi is why the crime rate is up.
Marrying octopi is why we have natural disasters. God no longer blesses the nation that allows marriage between men and octopi.

well, I’ll try this one again…someday somebody might think it’s as funny as I do:

I guess any one of those would do for the logo for the godless.

Oh, the Japanese…
I find all fetishes equally strange. Or normal. But then I grew up in a library.

That’s some weird shit there. I should have known better than to click on the link, but curiosity got me in the end.
Interestingly, however, there is a link in the comments to a rather interesting article about the history of tentacle porn.
Learn something new every day, I guess.
I’m just not sure that I actually wanted to learn this.
Rey Fox says
Some of the photography is vaguely erotic, but only until I think of how cold and stinky those things are.
And the Gianni Candido one just makes me think that there must have been a heckler or a Red Wings fan in the strip club that night.

Ayant un regard « plastique » sur ces images – et sur l’érotisme d’une manière générale – je ne peux m’empêcher de les trouver belles, vraiment très belles, fascinantes en même temps que dégoûtantes, immondes, abjectes… obscènes.
Gross.

Lived in Osaka for about 10 years and saw lots of live octopi for sale at markets. Assumed they were food . . . well!

er….Cephalove!

Aren’t some of those critters anatomically dubious? Several pics seem to feature some octopus/starfish cross, whose 8 arms join to a flat surface with just a little pucker (mouth?) in the middle. No head or anything, and the suckers are on the “top” — that is, the wrong side to grip the model they’re entwined around! Anencephalic octopi, mutilated for even greater perversity?

I think you need to create an entirely new category for that. “Weirdness” doesn’t quite cover it.
Oh, look, tentacle monsters! What a cliche for hentai! Note that for the second picture from the top, all the tentacles end in intromittant organs.

To my great surprise, this phrase does not exist on the known Web. Someone has to say it, and Fortune forces me to be that someone:
“Cyberpunk tentacle porn.”
There. I can sleep now.
