We’re hoping he’ll announce that he’s going to run against Coleman in 2008 from the stage here at Morris—he was playing coy with Jon Stewart because, pffft, you want to make such important statements in places that matter, that have resonance.
John Edwards apparently thought enough of The Daily Show and its resonance to announce something a tad more important than what Franken would have been announcing. And that was three years ago!

He didn’t like it though when Jon’s punchline about the Jewish son was funnier than his own!
“He didn’t like it though when Jon’s punchline about the Jewish son was funnier than his own!”
That looked like grudging admiration for comedic effect, to me, but I can’t tell if you’re joking, so it’s probably risky for me to accuse you of missing the joke…
It’s one of those eternal human dilemmas, I think.

Fox1, you’re right, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Will’s wrong. Take it from a comedian.
Not a good one, mind you, but I think this gets into “those who can’t, teach/Roger Ebert wrote the Return to the Valley of the Dolls screenplay” territory.

Of course, after Franken makes The Announcement, he’ll have to answer the other big question: will Bill Hillsman work on his campaign??

Is it just me or did Franken seem to be in a pissy mood? Maybe this whole running for office thing is turning him sour and curmudgeonly. Not that I blame him — politics can make anyone prune up faster than a newt in a microwave.

Could be. Or maybe its that whole “the country is going into the shitter” thing. Some people are touchy about that stuff.

I wasn’t as worried as I perhaps should have been when we were just circling round and round.
But then it really started to smell bad.
We started losing elevation.
And now I’m hearing this loud, roaring sound…

But Jon’s punchline *was* funnier than Al’s!
I think it’s show biz etiquette: Thou shalt not step on a guest’s joke, and Jon broke that rule. Ah well.
