Josh Rosenau managed to get a few words with Barack Obama. He only had five minutes, but it’s interesting stuff—it’s too bad there wasn’t time for some questions about science or science policy!
Measure Number: H.R. 3199 (USA PATRIOT Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005 )
Measure Title: A bill to extend and modify authorities needed to combat terrorism, and for other purposes.

Obama (D-IL), Yea

His science policy is apparently that its ok for the feds to know what you’re reading at your local library.
Plus, if I’m not mistaken, he said torture was not a big deal.

I sent the Senator (I have standing as an IL res) an email asking him to please slap Senator Frist when Fris was being stupid last year about teaching ID in schools. Senator Obama did not comment on my request, (he is after all a smart politician), BUT he did say that he does NOT want ID taught in schools.

The problem is, as his vote on the USAPATRIOT act renewal indicates, he will shed all vestiges of reason to ‘win’. The fact of the matter is that there is nothing American or patriotic about this act or its renewal, and the only reason it passed 89-10 in the senate is because Dems like Obama decided they wanted to sacrifice their ideals to appeal to American’s misprioritized need for ‘security’.
If you can’t take a stand on this most basic of issues- constitutional rights vs looking butch- then theres no telling what else you might fold on. I’m sure if he thought appearing anti-religious would lead to a ‘loss’ he’d slap your kids up beside the head with a good ol’ dose o’ ID before you can say ‘imperial presidency’ three times, fast.
89-10 folks! No one in the senate can honestly claim they didnt know what they were voting on this time.
