That picture made me google whether dogs passed the mirror test (I was curious if the dog would be really annoyed by looking in a mirror). The first link said that they don’t pass the standard visual mirror test, but that they do pass a variant of the mirror test based on smell. I was tempted to go down the rabbit hole into figuring out what that could possibly mean, but decided I had already wasted enough time.

I wonder whether the dog knows that his appearance has been altered. He does look rather unhappy about what the humans he loves have done to him.

I used to give my dogs lion cuts every summer and they definitely felt embarrassed for a few days each time.
