I… how… I don’t…
From Reuters…
He misses driving, feels as if he is in a cocoon, and is surprised how hard his new job is.
President Donald Trump on Thursday reflected on his first 100 days in office with a wistful look at his life before the White House.
“I loved my previous life. I had so many things going,” Trump told Reuters in an interview. “This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier.”
A wealthy businessman from New York, Trump assumed public office for the first time when he entered the White House on Jan. 20 after he defeated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in an upset.
Of course I’m quite sure that most if not all previous presidents were not actually prepared for how hard the job was, but this is quite different. Agent Orange literally thought that being President of the United States would be easier than his previous life.
So many excoriated President Obama for being “inexperienced” back in 2008, and some, sadly, still do think that. But the thing he and every other past president had (except maybe George Washington) was experience in government; they at least knew it wouldn’t be easy.
But Tan Man actually thought it would be easy.
As someone else said on Facebook… he thought he would become President and just be able to say “make it so”.
It really does make one thing clear… he never expected to win, and he doesn’t want the job now. Which just makes all the damage he’s done and is still doing even worse. He is the definition of inexperienced, and is occupying this job with no idea of what he’s doing.
And let’s just pile on the badness…
Remember in the Simpson’s movie? The President?
“I was elected to lead, not to read.”
That is literally what’s happening now… apparently his aides bragged to the press about how they realized that giving him options (on issues and things he has to take care of as President) was more than he could handle, so they basically choose for him. Unfortunately, I’m having trouble finding a link to that, but once I have one, I’ll update this.
Remember how he also doesn’t have time for daily intelligence briefings?
This is a nightmare.
And actual, real life nightmare.

In a fit of nostalgia, remembering the Anarcho-Punk scene back in London in the mid 80’s (I had some cool friends -- I never had enough “bottle” to do more than turn up to a few parties, although I was in awe of a friend who had stood with the miners and faced down the mounted police during the Poll Tax riots) I was listening to some Blythe Power on YouTube, when I noticed these lines in Stand into danger , that seemed oddly prophetic
“With your hands together softly so
Your little fists clenched tight in anger
Impotence becomes you very well
By the way you stood before the altar
I could tell You had nothing to offer nothing to say”
Despite their fixation on late Medieval English History, the music stands up quite well to my memories (perhaps because most of my memories of that time were pickled in alcahol?)… and the lyrics seem to have, if not a relevance at least a resonance.
