Much too busy to write right now. But I thought I’d share this beautiful new Digital Cuttlefish!
Now all I have to do is decide how to use it! New banner? Signature? I have to do something, so it is familiar when it graces the cover of volume 2, whenever that comes out! Any of you artistic types out there, feel free to suggest anything!
Once again, image by the incomparable Michael McRae. Click to embiggen (um… it embiggens quite a lot. Sorry.)

That is a nice touch, using the concept of ink and writing. Very impressive. I found Michael McRae photograhy on the web.

Oh, he’s not a photographer, Paul! He’s behind the Science By Email mailout by CSIRO (which, if you subscribe to, features an illustration by him every week) – and he’s also behind my logo too!
Paul Mohr says
Thanks for that info podblack, I found CSIRO. A very imaginative artist. He captures the spirit as well as the image of things. I just got the science by email calendar, impressive.

I couldn’t resist throwing something together.Kind of a slapdash job, I know.

Matt, that’s wonderful! That was very close to (and in many ways, much much better than) what I had in mind! (briefly… I would have the artwork a bit smaller, so the banner is not taking up half my screen, and to the left, with the verse to the right, perhaps even in the color of the quill’s ink. The title could then be placed across the entire top–I love the font you chose for that! And I love the parchment background!)Never let it be said that I was afraid to ask for too much!
Cuttlefish says
Thanks, p-cat, for posting the info I should have! Where would I be without your help? And yes, Paul, Michael’s work is very impressive indeed!
Majutsukai says
When you say “banner”, you mean something like what you have at the top of the page, right? I used that as a guideline for the dimensions. Is it too big?
Cuttlefish says
Actually, I love the pic that you did, and I love my current banner–but–I do think my current banner takes up too much real estate, and if I can save my readers a little bit of scrolling, I’d like to.Of course, now that you mention it, it might have been a limitation of the blogger template–that is, I may not be able to do a banner the way I was thinking. If that is the case, then the one you already did is absolutely perfect. I will have to take a look and see. *rubs tentacles gleefully*
The Ridger, FCD says
I admit it: I love this one much more than the one you have now.
Cuttlefish says
Ok, I have been trying to upload Matt’s banner, and blogger just sits there and stews. Is blogger allergic to .png files? Any advice? …cos really, now I am just aching to make the change!
Cuttlefish says
I figured it out!Thanks, Matt!
Majutsukai says
Wow, I’m flattered that you actually used it! It was just something I threw together for fun, so I really didn’t expect that. Cool.
Glendon Mellow says
Oh yes, this new one is sedate and spectacular!Awesome, Mr. McRae!
