I just don’t understand why the West doesn’t treat Saudi the same as South Africa during apartheid, and subject it to sanctions. Or rather, I do understand.
I enjoyed the berobed thugs shying away from her whenever she gave them a mouthful. Nothing intimidates them as much as a confident woman.

It’s unreal to see the shit women have to put up with there firsthand.

What was her infraction? Walking alone? Wearing nail polish? Wearing lipstick? Looking happy?
I like her “this is headed for Twitter and Facebook” comment.

Aha! That’s a clip from Memri, run by Zionist Israelis! Your argument is invalid! Gotcha!
In all seriousness, big tip of the hat to this woman. I also was happy to see the religious “police” seemingly put in their place by the real police/mall security.
At the risk of veering wildly, off-topic, is our host a TMBG fan? I hope so.

It beats me how those Saudi bigots can have such women and not be proud of them. That was so good to see. Bloody well done.

I totally respect her confidence and courage but did you not feel sad that the guys backed off because she namedropped a man, presumably someone with considerable power? Where would another woman with comparable spirit but without the social connections be, facing off the religious thugs as well as the police?

My impression is that she was claiming her legal rights, mirax, and hence the reference to the head of the religious police. In any case, if you are fighting for your freedom you use any weapon to hand.

mirax – yes. There was a lot about it that’s way less than perfect. Still, the telling off was pleasing.
