Good old “we are pro-life so we try to kill women to show how pro-life we are.”
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused a fire at an obstetrics and gynecology clinic — the second suspicious fire at a Georgia reproductive clinic this week. No one was injured in the Wednesday morning fire that started on the third floor of the Cobb County clinic, which anti-abortion advocates regularly protest, according to local news reports. Employees told a local TV station they saw “suspicious activity” before the fire:
Clinic workers believe the fire started on the third floor. They said two unknown men went upstairs and left shortly afterward, minutes before the fire was discovered.
“We have patients here. They’re under anesthesia. This could have been life-threatening,” employee Angela Buckner told Channel 2’s Ross Cavitt.
That’s unpossible, because pro-life people are pro-life.

It’s just more xian terrorism. Routine.
Xian terrorism has been a problem for decades.
This is the second xian terrorist attack this year. There was one in Wisconsin earlier this year. And the year isn’t even half over with!!!
Tabby Lavalamp says
But it would save the babies!
…Who would also die in the fire.
Maybe they consider those “babies” to be collateral damage (and it’s interested that the people who have no problem with “collateral damage” tend to be the ones who don’t expect to ever die as “collateral damage).

I’m going to guess that there will be not one Christian person who says loudly and publically that this is wrong.
I do wonder, what the hell were the clinic staff doing to allow unknown men into the building?
Alverant says
Raven,
You are incorrect. This is at least the 3rd xian terrorist attack this year. On New Years Day in Pentocial (sp) Florida a women’s clinic was burned down as a “present to Jesus” it wasn’t widely reported and the terrorist had many supporters in the city. So who knows how many other similar attacks have happened that the mass media chose not to cover.
Zengaze says
I’m waiting for Sam to recommend profiling.
raven says
Well OK.
So that is three xian terrorist attacks then. We are on track for at least 6 this year.
During the Bush Catastrophe, seems like there was about one xian terrorist attack on a family planning clinic every month. And the Mainstream Media didn’t bother to report them in much detail or very often.
It seems to make a difference who is in power with how often they launch an attack. I can imagine under a Romney administration the attacks would at least double.

@Alverant
It’s disgusting how complicit media outlets are in abetting this sort of behavior. If they report these American born Christian terrorist attacks at all they’re quick to give anti-choicer groups (who’re largely responsible for these acts of terrorism) plenty of talk time. Reminds me why I don’t like most journalist. They’ve forgotten what their job is.

Sounds like a not an atypical example of Christian “pro-life” terrorism in the US. However, the literalist in me feels compelled to point out that we don’t know for sure that this was an example of Christian terrorism. The fire could be accidental. The arsonists could be Muslim terrorists (fundamentalist Muslims are also very anti-choice) or terrorists of some other religion (orthodox Judaism comes to mind) or even just people with a grudge against the clinic or an employee or even a patient.
That having been said, I’d like to hear some “pro-life” groups, of any religious underpinnings, condemn this act as clearly anti-life. And wonder why they aren’t doing so. Surely the mainstream anti-abortion movement does condemn violence. Doesn’t it?
raven says
No.
They are the xian terrorists.
Alverant says
Well Raven, looks like I was wrong too. I saw this article about attacks (note the plural) on women’s clinics in Georgia so apparantly there’s been more than 3 this year.

I doubt who’s in the White House has much of an effect on how often these attacks occur when the President is looking to take middle ground. Because these are small scale attacks probably committed by people from t”the neighborhood” so to speak, who’s the local commissioner and DA. They’re the ones who can make tracking these people down a priority and can challenge it directly.
raven says
The local law enforcement can and should track the terrorists down.
But these are also hate crimes and terorist attacks. They are federal crimes, felonies.
Oddly enough, the nearest terrorist incident close to my house was by xian terrorists. Someone firebombed the local mosque. The next nearest incident was also by xian terorists who firebombed a family planning clinic. The next nearest incident was by a xian terrorist who shot it out with the police… In all these cases, the FBI was on the scene almost immediately.
See the pattern here? Since 9/11, the majority of terrorist plots and attacks in the USA have been by…xians and right wing extremists. (Source, Ed Brayton’s blog and the FBI.)
And oh yeah, did you know xianity is the source of all morality? Yeah, I didn’t know that either.
StevoR says
@4.Alverant :
Isn’t that a few days late?
(Well few thousand years too kinda.)
Also a bit hard to gift wrap and put a card on?
StevoR says
The sheer hypocritical evil of the correctly named Coathanger lobby that instead prefer to call themselves “pro-life” is hard to under-state.
Yet the media manages to ignore them almost totally.
All these attacks on family planning clinics I’ve only ever heard about from here – FTB blogs – at least that I can remember. Now, okay I’m an Aussie but, still, you’d think these extremist Coathanger lobby acts of terrorism would get some coverage somewhere wouldn’t you?
Sandiseattle says
@andrea: consider yourself partly wrong. Here is one Christian person who will say it was wrong. As for loudly and publicly well that’ll be a little hard. Arson is wrong period. That it endangered anyone makes it worse. Of course until someone catches the responsible parties “Christian” is a scapegoat of convience. As some of the comments point out it could have been someone of another religion. Tho’ given that it is GA, (or the US for that matter) the assumption that it was a “Christian” is probably a good (even logical) one.
