I completely forgot to post my mother’s creations for the previous Christmas. Would you be interested in seeing them now? Before you answer, here are the gingerbreads she made for this Easter.
Her hands are shaky but they are still beautiful. And delicious. And most importantly – making them brings her joy.

You know, that does help. Seeing such beautiful things which your mother clearly loves to make.
I woke up this morning and lay in bed much longer than usual because it felt like we’ve just gone back a month in time. For the last few weeks the snow has been gone, and the plants have been starting to come up, it felt like spring. Yesterday we had three inches of snow and it looks like the end of February again, dismally grey. I know it will melt in a few days, and warm up, and the growing things will recover. But this morning felt hopeless. It felt like there was going to be no end to all the difficulties of the last eight years, that they would simply continue. Spring is my favorite season because it does, at least to me, bring hope for the future.
I need to get my own Easter preparations going. As the rest of the family has been aging, I’ve taken over the responsibilities of the Easter meal. I need to clean up the house a bit, do a little baking myself. Nothing as elegant or as beautiful as your mother’s gingerbread, but I woke up dreading the work. It needs to be done, but didn’t seem worth doing on this wintery morning.
So it helps that you shared your mother’s beautiful creations, which clearly brought her great joy. It brings me joy to see them, and helps inspire me to get going on my own work in order to try to bring joy to others.
Thank you. Let your mother know that her creations have brought joy to others.

Yes, Christmas, please -- even if it may inspire me to make cookies I don’t need to eat.

I love seeing your mother’s creations Charly!
I don’t remember seeing quite so many different rabbits poses before, but I am probably forgetting what I’ve seen. That’s one reason to post these every time your mother makes them -- it’s all too easy to forget the fun stuff in the midst of all the nasty stuff that is happening. Please give her my thanks and admiration too.
