To me, it looks like some primeval creature washed up on the shores of the first ocean. Intimidating, yet beautiful.

It’s the bones of the Ancient One. It seeks the One who knows the Incantation that will reflesh this skeleton, reteeth this mouth, and repower the might that will avenge all the wrongs of the earth!

Ice Swimmer -- That reminds me of a certain evocative passage in Kalevala, where the devil creates a demonic moose out of rotten logs and other plant residue. (IIRC, this was in association with Lemminkäinen’s first heroics, the moose hunt etc.)
