Crimson.

A strong red with a slight bluish tint. Historically, it’s the color of the kermes dye, a red dye derived from the dried bodies of insects belonging to the genus Kermes. Kermesic acid is the pigment that gives the dye its color. I found a similar hue on a sunburnt rose.

    Wow, That is gorgeous colour!
I don’t know what time of day this was taken, but the light is amazing. The petals look backlit and front-lit at the same time! How did you do that?

voyager, thank you! This was taken in the late afternoon, early September. The rose was in the shadow of a building, so it’s neither backlit nor front-lit but I guess light was diffuse enough to give that appearance. I didn’t do anything intentionally to get that result!

Crimson (if the beetles aren’t harmed) is for wearing, IMHO. It is a lovely colour, indeed.
