    Yes, Jack did go in the creek right after this picture was taken. He smelled a bit funky when we got home so we gave him a shower with the garden hose.

    Black-eyed susans! Isn’t it a bit early? I seem to recall the susans coming out mid-July or so. I get the feeling, though, that Jack isn’t paying attention to the flowers. ;)

    Shiny Jack. Also, the plants are deeper green on the other side of the creek.

    Speaking of plants, see those big leaves that have sprung out of the ground on the other side of the creek, in the left and in the middle. I think they are colt’s foot (Tussilago farfara) leaves we discussed at the end of April.

    I don’t think colt’s foot gets that large, and I don’t know if it enjoys water enough to live so close. Perhaps a marsh marigold or some other aquatic-ish plant?

    I’ve seen colt’s foot leaves that large on stream banks, maybe the leaves only get that big when the plant is close to water?
