We had a nice trip to Tschida today, and I’ll start going through the photos in a day or three, it will take a while. A good time was had by all, and I’m now going to have a very lazy rest of the day.

What a wonderful place! It’s so verdant and lush and there’s even a river that meanders. That’s just the kind of place that Jack and I like to explore. It looks like Jayne enjoyed himself too. I always say that a soggy dog is a happy dog! Despite the dog picture, (I can’t wait to see more of Jayne) the last photo is my favourite. That is a pretty nice hat you’ve got there and I’m imagining a small, peaceful smile on the front side

Thank you all so much! nDakota is stunningly beautiful in June, you can’t even count all the shades of green. This is at the lower dam, which feeds into the lake. We were staying away from the lake, because there are always people there, and Jayne is not a people person. Rick was a bit bent that we hadn’t brought the canoe, but Jayne in a canoe is courting disaster, and I can’t afford a new camera right now. :D
At the right time of year, you can easily cross to the little ‘islands’, but the river and lake were very high thanks to all the rain. One serious positive about chemo -- apparently, it makes you a poisonous animal, one that ticks don’t like. Jayne & Rick got them all, which is very unusual. Usually, it’s me who attracts them all.
Jayne had a wonderful time, he was into everything, and constantly topping up the pee tank, so he wouldn’t miss a spot. That last shot is Rick, who was spotting a ton of fish, the lake must have been popping with them. We saw antelope and vultures. We thought about going on to Sheep’s Creek Dam, but that was another 40 miles, and we were all getting a bit tuckered, and of course, Grimhild decided to act up a bit, so we headed home. Encountered another antelope, and we stopped at Muddy Creek, which is just a couple miles from us, in time to watch the Cliff Swallows building their nests on the bridge. Got a lot of bad shots.
We did stop at Crappie Creek too, where Jayne got to snake about the reeds in the water. I have to say, I was surprised he went to water on his own; Doll did a good job with getting him over his fear, although he does avoid deep water. He didn’t snort water once this time. Every now and then, Jayne seems to think he can plunge his head in the water and still breathe.
Marcus: Lots of wild alfalfa, licorice, and milkweed growing all over. Yeah, you’d probably sneeze your head off.
Mmmm, greenery scenery, a nice place to soothe the spirit.
We were at the outlet of the Lake Tschida dam today, downriver from the lake. From here, the Heart River joins the Missouri in Mandan, and flows south to the next dam that makes Lake Oahe, just barely inside South Dakota.
Our town’s Muddy Creek flows into the Heart River, so it is fun to see the river our little creek will join.
Just as part of my everyday clothes, I use Polarized Sunglasses. They relax my eyes, year round, and I can see through daytime snowstorms and into 8 feet of water easily. I don’t fish much, probably only 2 or 3 days a year,when friends with boats call me to go fishing. Today, standing on the edge of the campgrounds walking path, I saw dozens of very big Walleye, and saw a few Striped Bass, too.
C took a lot of pictures today, I took a lot of mental images. Overall, a great outdoor day.

First Jack, as I remember from one of his walks, and now Jayne… I’m jealous: all the dogs I’ve ever had really, really hated water!

They are the best. People always think I’m crazy for wearing them while driving through rain, but they make verything much clearer.
BTW, if you need very light tinted ones, 3D glasses from the cinema are just a polarisation filter.

Aw. For some dogs, that’s just sense. You can’t let any type of bulldog or sharpei near water, they sink like a stone. We introduced all of ours to water at a very young age, that helps. Of course, our Cachet, who was half collie and half landseer newfoundland, needed no convincing, that girl lived to be in water.
Jayne was a special challenge. He’s retarded, and he just couldn’t wrap his head around the concept of water. For the longest time, he’d scare us half to fucking death by plunging his head under the water and trying to breathe; for a while, we thought we’d have to give up on the water business. Doll took him in hand, and slowly taught him how to handle water. She stayed shallow at first, gradually moving up to deeper water, and managed to teach Jayne how to swim with his head *above* the water. He’s still not terribly comfortable with swimming. He’ll do it if it’s necessary, otherwise he stays shallow.
