Today Jack and I drove out to the country so we could take our walk beside a pretty little river called the Thames. It’s named after England’s Thames river, but it’s much smaller, much slower, very shallow and not fit for boat travel of any kind. Even a canoe can only go a few feet before getting stuck on a sandbar. I know about that from experience. Today, though, the water was very high with a strong current and large areas of flooding. There’s also still a lot of ice.

How forlorn! It’s supposed to snow here again this week, I do wish we’d get Spring instead.

Nice reflections.
I don’t wish floods on anyone or into anybody’s cellar but but they can be quite photogenic, like this one is.

This is a beautiful shot, voyager. It just shouldn’t be an April photo, but it’s lovely.

This picture got me to look for some ice dam and ice departure videos.
This video is from the parish of Vimpeli in Ostrobothnia, Finland, an excavator is breaking an ice dam in the river Poikkijoki (which I’ve never heard of before).
This one is from the village Meltaus in the city/municipality of Rovaniemi, Finland and the river is Ounasjoki, one of the biggest rivers in Finnish Lapland and a tributary of Kemijoki. The ice is leaving.

I guess whatever that bench was waiting for never arrived. And now…
You capture wonderful little feelings stories in your snaps, voyager. I’ve been enjoying your one-picture tales very much.
