I don’t see them a lot, when I do it’s mostly juveniles who are drawn by the promise of suet. Even then, you have to go all sneaky bastard to get shots. I lucked out when some of the local Thrashers decided the base of the Lilac tree was a good breeding ground. They keep going back to it, so I get the babes when they first venture out, and later when they’ve grown a bit. That’s why I always put suet on the ground close to the Lilac.

Oooh clever! I like that. I might try it… Except… I do have to be careful. I can accidentally attract bears pretty easily here, and my place is already too attractive to bears by a lot. Maybe in winter though.
