When I hear “pelican” I think of cartoon birds. But what a beautiful, beautiful, elegant animal!
I can’t get over the pastels -- the baby pink and blue on the bill, and the yellow surrounding the eye. Whoever came up with the storks deliver babies thing got it wrong -- it should have been a pelican!
A stately dinosaur indeed.
I also think of cartoon pelicans when I hear the name, but they’re beautiful and look quite powerful. Definitely up to carrying a few swaddled tots.
The third and the last are my faves. These are far beyond the cartoon birds, indeed.
The trouble with cartoon pelicans is that small children wander about waving tasty snacks in their faces and then the pelicans decide it’s theirs to take. “Don’t feed the wildlife” remains an important message.
