The United States dropped its largest non-nuclear bomb in Afghanistan, known as the “Massive Ordnance Air Blast” or the “Mother of All Bombs,” on Thursday. This is the first-ever combat use of the bomb, which weighs 21,000 pounds.

The Trump administration’s foreign policy has been completely incoherent. Also on Thursday, the U.S.-led coalition in Syria accidentally bombed and killed Syrian forces fighting ISIS. The Washington Post called it “the worst confirmed friendly-fire incident” in the almost three-year war against ISIS.
This administration has also killed an astonishing number of civilians abroad in a short amount of time. Last month, a U.S. airstrike in Mosul killed 200 civilians, and it took almost a week for the government to acknowledge it was responsible. U.S.-led attacks in Syria in the span of two weeks last month also killed at least 79 people. And Trump authorized a deadly U.S. raid in Yemen just five days into office, which killed at least 23 Yemeni civilians, including children.

After Spicer refused to comment on whether the president authorized the bombing, a reporter asked Trump whether or not he did so.
“Everybody knows exactly what happened,” Trump said later Thursday afternoon. “What I do is I authorize my military. We have the greatest military in the world and they’ve done a job, as usual.”

This is sickening. I can’t even express how I feel.
I can’t get the image of Trump in the cab of that semi out of head.
He thinks that being president means getting to do things. He doesn’t see anything about the job as requiring anything of him. He’s got this horn, but what fun is it if he doesn’t make it sound? He’s got all this bomb, but what fun is it if he doesn’t blow anything up?
For Trump, being president means never having to face any consequences… which, of course, is why he’s so furious when he gets bad press, or when members of congress threaten to vote against legislation he favors, or, y’know, the real world happens to function in its normal way despite what he imagined was unlimited power.
Fuck murder. Fuck Trump.
And now he is threatening to bomb North Korea too. I am trying not to freak out, but this is more than a little terrifying.

That statement is true as far as it goes, but it doesn’t go anywhere near far enough.
For the Angry Cheeto, ‘consequences’ have always been a thing that happens to Other People. His entire life, as best I can tell, has been an extended exercise in Trump doing whatever the fuck he damn well feels like, with the consequences falling on Other People. This may be the first time in the Cheeto’s life that he hasn’t been able to just do stuff and leave someone else holding the bag.
It’s like he thinks life is a movie. Or is trying to make life into a movie. You know those really bad action flicks where America (because it’s always America) throws around some random bombs and everyone sort of cowers for a bit and then when they try to retaliate, there’s that one brave hero who saves the whole world. Please don’t make life into a movie like that, I don’t like them.
And then there’s that shitstorm that will break the world (well, the human world) if someone (anyone!) decides to retaliate because Mr Tweet will unload everything…
Well, I’m going out to the country this weekend, and I’m taking my mum and my brother with me. Perhaps all the passports, too. I hate the sound of my own fear.
Yeah, but it’s your freedom those barbaric others hate. It’s not the fact that you throw bombs that kill everyone in a 1 mile radius.
But hey, it’s a nice distraction from the Russia revelations. I fear for North Korea the day the whole truth is unmasked. It would be clearly irresponsible to impeach the president in the middle of a nuclear war he started for that very reason.

When I read about this in the news yesterday evening my heart sunk. I was warning about the possibility that Trump starts third world war since mid 2016, but even I did not expect he will march towards it so quickly.
“My military” … whatever happened to giving the power to “you, the people”, to caring about “America first”? Another sure sign of fascism (as if there were not enough already), the fetishisation of military power and intimidation.
He just used half of a metric ton of explosives costing 800 k$ to kill one enemy combatant (allegedly) and he sees nothing wrong with that, either from the point of efficiency, or morality.
Imagine how many hospitals and schools could be build and maintained (possibly for years) in Middle East for that kind of money, reducing the willingness of those people to fight pointless religious wars far more quickly and effectively.
But for that attitude to be implemented in any meaningfull way the majority of US population would have to shed their own religious blinders, and the majority of EU population would have to shed their racism and fear of the other.
But Clinton would totally have been worse.
China is now warning about incipient nuclear war. We’re there, folks. All because the fucking maniac known as Trump thinks it’s okey dokey to keep threatening the maniac in N. Korea.
There’s no plan, there’s nothing. I don’t want to die. I don’t want everyone else to die. Well, most everyone else. Fuck.
