The one time I’ve visited Germany, it was in a small southwestern town (Geisenheim, for a conference four years ago). It was early March, fairly warm and sunny that week, crocuses flowering and roses budding. It was lovely break from winter.
Right after coming home, I noticed from weather map that winter was coming back to Germany with vengeance. I saw Giliell commenting it on Pharyngula. Here in Helsinki we had high pressure, cold but sunny, lots of snow until the end of March (usually snowmelt begins in March). On the last three years, spring has been very early, all the snow gone by mid March.
