The kayakers were able to get in and out quickly, avoiding the cops while dropping supplies to those on the front line, such as bottles of apple cider vinegar, to help counter the near constant clouds of pepper spray. They never stopped spraying, just took a break from it now and then. The irony may have been lost on the cops, but it certainly wasn’t lost on the protectors when cops started carting water down the hill, and it was being passed out among the cops. There were more than a few offers to replace that water with cans of oil. Many of the cops happily took a break, sucking down clean water, chatting, telling jokes, and laughing. Then it was back to gassing and shooting unarmed people. Click for full size.

There are some very brave people in these pictures. None of them wear uniforms
Caine says
Yeah. And the cops were complaining that they didn’t have the resources to hold out much longer. :Snort:

Well let’s hope they run out of supplies sooner than later, poor babies.

I am confused. On what grounds were they pepper spraying? Is it illegal to be in the water? Is the water privately owned? Are there regulations about how they are supposed to use this spray, as I doubt continuous spraying is the approved method? What are they supposed to be doing there?
How much is this costing the ND gov’t? How much would it have cost the gov’t to act in good faith instead?
Charly says
I do not understand how the cops can do this and live with themselves. The differences between them and SS is only one of degree, not one of principle.

They don’t need grounds. They can, and have been doing whatever the fuck they want. For the cops, this is relatively light weight action. What they did at the Treaty Camp, well. Even the recaps don’t cover the amount of people they injured, the horses they injured, and while they’ve managed to kill horses, they haven’t managed to kill anyone yet, but it’s not for a lack of trying. Plenty of people have ended up at the hospital, once they were bailed.
As far as I know, being in the river is not illegal in any sense.

Oh, running out of supplies? So sad am I. Stay strong, Standing Rock. You’re wearing them down.
Though when it comes down to it, I’m sure there’s a disaster relief fund or some such they can bleed dry by increasing the community’s exposure to potential disaster. #logic
I fear for the lives of the protectors.
