Trigger Warning: Disturbing Video of DAPL Confrontation.
This video, taken directly from the front lines of the October 27 police crackdown on the camp established in the pipeline’s path on treaty-protected indigenous land, contains disturbing images. Police douse protectors with mace as if squirting water from a hose, shoot them with tasers and throw them to the ground, all in the name of building a pipeline. Those against the project say they are there solely to protect the water.
Spiritual Leaders Negotiate Impasse With Morton County Sheriff.
Low-flying helicopters and airplanes made it difficult for the crowd of roughly 300 people to hear Chief Arvol Looking Horse as he prayed on Saturday in North Dakota near the site where Morton County Sheriffs and water protectors had clashed days earlier.
Looking Horse, a Cheyenne River Hunkpapa and the 19th-generation keeper of the c’anupa, the sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe bundle, led a peaceful walk from the water protectors’ Treaty Camp for one-half mile on Highway 1806 toward the site where at least nine armored vehicles and numerous police remained stationed behind a makeshift wall of concrete barriers.

Soon after several water protectors returned to camp, some of those jailed and released on Friday showed photos that began to circulate on social media of how authorities were tabulating those they arrested. Using markers, sheriffs officers branded numbers on the forearms of arrested water protectors.
“It’s like Nazi Germany,” one water protector who wishes to remain unidentified told ICTMN.
The leaders of Standing Rock and other elders are slated to meet with elected officials from the state and local authorities on Wednesday, November 2.
Police snipers could be seen through binoculars stationed on a hill to the east standing next to their armored vehicles while Looking Horse and Fool Bear spoke with sheriff’s officers.

Conflicting Accounts Emerge After Treaty Camp Police Action.
Media has been reporting that at least one water protector was armed and shot at cops. This armed woman was nowhere to be seen however, not by anyone there, and not on any of the video shot that day. Tribal law enforcement did find and arrest a DAPL infiltrator who was heavily armed:
However, tribal law enforcement apprehended a heavily-armed man with apparent connections to a private security firm hired by DAPL’s builders. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe posted a description of the incident on its Facebook page.
“As reported via video evidence from the front lines on 10-27-16. A man bearing an assault rifle broke thru a barricade and was speeding toward the Oceti Sakowin camp, he was run off the road 1/4 mile north from the Camp. The man exited the vehicle where he appeared to be disguised as a water protector. He than fired several shots from his assault rifle. Tribal Law Enforcement responded, the man was then apprehended. Insurance Documents from the vehicle reveal that it is owned by Dakota Access Pipeline. We commend the BIA Law Enforcement to their commitment of public safety and for their quick response and apprehension of the suspect, who was clearly meaning to do harm.”

Sir, may I just say that I hate you?
You look like a bad version of a guy wearing elongated Halloween Candy Corns.
Is it ok if I send you to the front lines of DAPL?

The buffaloes made me crack up. Apparently white people didn’t kill enough of them the last time. It’S their home, too!
Caine says
Giliell, I loved that, I wish I’d been there! The look on the cops’ faces is priceless, they don’t have a bloody clue.
Charly says
A very informative roundup of links.
The silende from the White House is deafening.

So they’re marking people like cattle. People… like cattle. Well goddamnit.

And like so much of what Kirchmeier and his team of thugs are doing, like strip searching every person arrested, it’s not only borderline when it comes to legality, it’s done with one intent: to dehumanize. Kirchmeier has been intent on that from day one, trying like hell to paint a picture of savage prairie niggers who need to be put down.

Darn, where are all the Bundy’s gun-toting buddies when you need ’em.

I was just dressing up and I noted that some of my plain white cotton t-shirts are labeled on the inside “Original Design CHEROKEE -- established 1973”.
That shit is really everywhere.

I liked the buffalo, too. That must have been something.
I’m glad for Hemsworth’s apology, which is nice, but I hope he learns from his mistakes and refrains from similar in the future. Good luck!
Can’t feel good about much of anything else in the list, but it’s all so depressing.

It seems like one of them was trying to shoot the Protectors
Charly says
Is it me or do the cops tackling the woman with blue prayerstick look like they totally enjoy their job?
Caine says
Giliell:
The DAPL armed infiltrator was shooting at cops. More accurately, towards cops -- Dakota Access and ETP are trying to provide cops with an excuse to open fire. Oh, and I forgot to mention that they have snipers out there now.
Charly:
It’s not just you. From day one, Kirchmeier has referred to prayer sticks as “clubs” as in “armed with clubs”. There isn’t one native person who would ever consider using their prayer stick as a weapon. They are all unique to each individual, hand made and deeply personal. They are also considered sacred. In spite of Kirchmeier’s “club” business, the cops are well aware of the nature of prayer sticks, they have been told, more than once over the months, by various Indians, tribal leaders, and spiritual leaders. The particular glee they show in parting someone from their prayer stick is yet another step in the dehumanization and demoralizing of all the protectors.
