Such great shots! And that last, late one? Oooh, fabulous focus and detail. I know how difficult those kind of flowers can be, cameras have a difficult time grabbing what you want them to.

Yeah, the point-and-shoot focus really annoys me on those and makes me yearn for a focus ring on a real lens on a real SLR camera which I can see through the the lens. The auto focus can’t lock onto the soft petal of the flower at all, and manual focus on the tiny LCD screen is pointless on a sunny day. My only hope on the leopard lily is to use point focus and lock onto one of the stamen. But even a slight breeze makes that almost impossible.
And don’t get me started on the lack of depth of field on that camera. The lens will only go down to an f/8 which gives me a very narrow slice of focus at close distances.
But I still love the camera. For the money it gets me some really nice shots. Especially for birding.

The first is radiant. The shade of orange makes me feel good as I associate it with my family’s old summer cottage where I spent my summers as a kid.
The leopard lily pictures are a bit more mellow. The shadow in the last one is nice.

I was browsing through the new posts, and the leopard lilies really took me aback (in a good way). The spots really catch the eye, visually attractive, and the colours are superb -- esp. the contrasts in the last picture.
