The nation is getting back to normal, as normal as that quasi-holiday period between Thanksgiving and Christmas can be anyway. Here at FTB/z, over the holiday week, we decided to build a PC and maybe use Linux, I’m back to blegging for a living, and Comet ISON fell apart at perihelion except maybe not completely. If the hustle and bustle is too much, you can always visit your local atheist church for whatever it is atheist churches offer. There’s one coming soon to a town near you:
ColoSprings — Nearly three dozen gatherings dubbed “atheist mega-churches” by supporters and detractors have sprung up around the U.S. and Australia – with more to come – after finding success in Great Britain earlier this year. The movement, fueled by social media and spearheaded by two prominent British comedians, is no joke.
Last month, the inaugural Sunday Assembly in Los Angeles attracted several hundred people bound by their belief in nonbelief. Similar gatherings in San Diego, Nashville, Tenn., New York and other U.S. cities have drawn hundreds of atheists seeking the camaraderie of a congregation without religion or ritual.
I’m not sure what to make of this. Neither is anyone else. The comments following that story are kinda funny. And some are depressing.
