God did not create sex for enjoyment

Sex is a sacred creation by our Heavenly Father solely handed down from on high for the purpose of procreation. It wasn’t created by God-eh so that people could have fun. So says that lovable little scamp Jerome Corsi. The best part is I don’t have link his chum directly:

Raw Story — “Our founding fathers knew that if we went this direction, there was no more moral compass and you won’t be able to explain to your children — you’ll have to face the fact that we lost holding the line on one of the most principle issues in the Bible, and that is sex is not about fun,” he remarked. “If you want to have fun, read a book, go to a movie. Sex is about the procreation of children. It’s a sacred responsibility that is meant by God to have men and women commit their lifetime to children.”

A perverse obsession with the sex lives of strangers isn’t the only creepy fixation Corsi and his fans have in common. The same Teaparty clowns who make a show of worshiping the US Constitution at every turn despise the flagship organization dedicated to defending the most important part of it, the Bill of Rights. That org is called the ACLU.

“God did not create sex for enjoyment.”

Actually I’d have to agree. Of course you could truncate the sentence after the first five words.

I think the “sexual repression caucus” of the founding fathers forgot to tell Benjamin Franklin about this aspect of upright living. I understand old Ben had quite a reputation in Paris. IIRC, Alexander Hamilton wasn’t exactly an angel either when it came to matters sexual.

It sounds to me that Cosi is one of those religion-lovin’ Americans with only half an idea of his country’s history, and is confusing the founding- with the pilgrim fathers.
Still, an easy mistake for somebody who thinks the Bible is The Truth.

I think the implication is that people don’t have sex with Jerome Corsi for fun. Hopefully they don’t do it to procreate with him, though.

TxSkeptic: What was that, Corsi as interpreted by William Shatner?

As for the religious idiots’ original thesis, if God didn’t want sex to be enjoyed, why did he make it so enjoyable? Is their God an incompetent creator, totally unable to control the outcome of his own acts, or are they just a bunch of ignorant dolts who can’t face the reality of their God’s creation? I’ll just go with the easiest-to-believe option here…

So, 69 is not for making babies. Am I still allowed to enjoy that? I need a ruling.

Also, I just hit menopause. I’m married. Is it a sin for me to have sex now that I can’t make any more babies? Is it a sin for me to enjoy sex? I have a kid, does that get me a papal indulgence? (And is that fair in any way?) Is it still “better to marry than to burn”, or should I divorce my husband and join a nunnery? He still has viable sperm. Should he be allowed to enjoy procreation-free sex with me, or must I supply him with a fertile second wife?

Seriously, someone did not think through their stupid idea at all.

(All of you feel free to have as much fun ssex as you can. If there was a God, I’m pretty sure he made sex fun so we would do it more.)

I had no problem explaining it to my children – Sex is fun, it’s your business what you do with your body and with whom you do it, respect the wishes and the enjoyment of your partner and always enjoy sex responsibly, meaning that you use birth control responsibly and protect yourself and your partners from STDs.
I think that about covered it, and we have five healthy, happy and responsible adult children.

Oh yeah, I think that they already had a clue that sex is fun from the happy noises that came from the general direction of our bedroom. We were often told to take the noise level down a notch!

“Procreation of children”? As opposed to puppies? Why do these people not know that “to procreate” is an INtransitive verb? Oh, and their ideas are nonsense.

Sounds like Jerome Corsi hasn’t read his Bible.

The so called Song of Salomon has precious little to say about procreation and a whole lot about pleasure.

Of course is any supernatural creator wanted sex to be less about pleasure he/she/it could have designed the penis to have sharp spines and require those spines to tear at he female reproductive system to trigger ovulation. That why cats make so much noise when mating. It is painful.
