It always blows my mind that there’s an entire continent under an ice sheet. I just keep thinking about all the fascinating secrets it must hold, insights about our planet (especially life in our planet) that we can’t find elsewhere.
Here’s one consequence: If the Arctic sea ice melts, the sea level won’t rise noticably. But kilometers of ice melt from Greenland and the Antarctic continent, we *will* notice.
