Just one poll, not sure what to make of it, yada-yada-yada:
St. Louis Today — U.S. Senate challenger Todd Akin’s support in Missouri has plummeted since his remarks a week ago about “legitimate rape” and pregnancy, putting him 9 points behind Sen. Claire McCaskill in a race he was previously winning, according to a new Post-Dispatch/News 4 poll. More than half of Missouri voters now view the Republican congressman unfavorably, the poll indicates, and fewer than one in five view him favorably.
But that almost makes me feel hopeful about America again.
I grew up near St. Louis, and back in the 60s and early 70s, it was a very liberal place. The major paper was The St. Louis Democrat. I learned my liberal views and to care about people and the environment when I went to college there.
I know that things have changed there, but I’m with you – I hope that St. Louis can become what it used to be!
That’s what happens when someone aspiring to leadership shows that they are not a leader, just a club member of bogus philosophies, ignorant and dismissive of reality and science. He is an embarrassment to those who crave bold and capable guidance as well as to those who are truly capable.
Other aspirants should take notice and adjust their trajectories accordingly.

Here’s what I think it shows. You can be ignorant, anti-feminist and borderline insane, yet still be elected. However, if you get into the news headlines for being ignorant, anti-feminist and borderline insane, then it becomes a lot harder.
This is what happens when Teapartiers get so comfortable with their repellent tribal beliefs in their own echo chambers that they start blurting them out amongst the population in general. Hopefully they’ll continue to do so at the RNC and people find out what they REALLY believe, rather than the cleaned-up sound bites.
And hopefully the public at large will recognize them for the scum that they are.
I live in St. Louis, and I’m heartily glad to see him sinking in the polls, but some of my die-hard conservative co-workers are actually defending the man, claiming his remarks were “taken out of context.” It makes me crazy!
