In all the excitement of another wingnut sociopath slotted for the Republican VP, I almost forgot my big news. I got a raise! It took a year and half to earn, I had to do the work before getting the money, and then it got dragged out for some inexplicable reasons that kept me doing that work without getting the raise for months, big coinkindink I know. But after ranking at number one or number two, time and time again, month after long month, I finally got it! I now officially make right around … $12/hour. Yes, roughly twelve whole US greenbacks to call my own each and every hour I work. It’s a fortune, I’m not worthy.
Doesn’t sound great? Hey, I now make a tiny bit more than the tri-lingual lady who sits a few cubes away from me and started at the same time. She got a Master’s in electrical engineering and went on to help design the solar panels on Mars Pathfinder among other notable accomplishments, then she worked in the private sector for 15 years creating cool new devices of all kinds, until her job was outsourced, her company bought out and scrapped, and the economy caved in on top of her. So now she works here, with me, digging her way out of this cluster-fuck 12 dollars an hour at a time. Because this is the land of the free and the home of the brave, where anyone who works hard can succeed! Just ask any millionaire son of a CEO governor!

Oh, don’t give us that bleeding heart liberal crap. We know the truth: You’re stuck in a low-paying job because you made choices somewhere in your life. I don’t need to know what specific choices you made or what sort of environment you made those choices IN, of course. All that really matters is that you at some point decided to do or not do something. That means you accepted COMPLETE 100% RESPONSIBILITY for anything and everything that ever happened in your life from that moment on.
You deserve whatever you get. We live in a Just World(tm) and if you’re unhappy then you simply made bad choices. You know the ones I mean. Yes, you do.

Congratulations on getting a raise. I wish I could say the same. The last raise I got was four years ago, when gasoline prices were still around $2 per gallon.
