Maybe Romney took too much LDS in the 60s

(H/T for the ingenious title to reader Feralboy12 ) To really get insight into Romney’s incessant memory lapses, last night a panelist on MSNBC relayed a story from the 90s when Romney ran against Ted Kennedy for a MA senate seat and had to convince voters he wasn’t a wingnut. Word is Mittens got all bleary-eyed during a campaign event of some sort, saying he knew a woman who died from a back-alley abortion. So he would always uphold a women’s right to choose, even adding, “on that you will not see me waver.”  That’s how big of a credibility and/or mental recall problem Romney already had. Or, the other possibility is that Mitt just lies a lot. This week that practice may have finally caught up to him:

Boston Globe— Romney has said he left Bain in 1999 to lead the winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, ending his role in the company. But public Securities and Exchange Commission documents filed later by Bain Capital state he remained the firm’s “sole stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer, and president.”

Also, a Massachusetts financial disclosure form Romney filed in 2003 states that he still owned 100 percent of Bain Capital in 2002. And Romney’s state financial disclosure forms indicate he earned at least $100,000 as a Bain “executive” in 2001 and 2002, separate from investment earnings.

Romney has been telling bald-faced whoppers for months, so forgive me if the schadenfreude shows through here. Let’s just recap this one web of deceit so far. Romney’s company Bain capital did some nasty shit. It’s been reported Bain took over companies, raided the pension fund, sold off equipment, fired workers — and rehired some of them as temps without benefits — outsourced other US jobs to China, borrowed against the company’s dwindling assets, left the ravaged company leveraged to the hilt and walked off with a shitload of loot. The wound was so deep many companies folded within months. We now know this shit happened while he was running Bain, but earlier this week the big question was if the outsourcing occurred before or after he left, supposedly in Feb 99, because it was after Feb 99 when some of the first, more politically damaging stuff done by Bain came to light.

Now the Romney campaign is claiming yes, he was President, CEO, sole stockholder, and received a fat salary into 2002 … but he didn’t work there, had no idea what was going on, not at all. Oh, and Obama is a big fat liar.

It doesn’t make a great campaign ad — “I’m Mitt Romney, vote for me, I have no idea what I’m signing nor am I responsible for anything that happens while I’m getting paid to be in charge” — at least not for team Romney.

Dunno about the Bain biz, but you’re being unfair about WMR’s attitude towards abortion:

A brisk 180° gyration is not a waver.

Speaking of LDS, did Mittens ever step up to question his church’s idiotic racist beliefs, or their segregationist internal policies?

Well, he certainly had a commitment to choice while governor of Massachusetts.

That’s why Romneycare covers abortion and Obamacare doesn’t.

Romney lead the winter Olympics? What did he compete in, the 200m downhill flip flop?
