I remember it like it was only a few years ago. Polite rebuke of a policy stampeding an already panicked nation into war for oil and government contracts, one that would end up costing a trillion dollars and thousands of dead and maimed Americans, was treason. Today it is the mark of a noble critic:
MSNBC— President Barack Obama introduced his administration’s new policy granting qualified legal status to illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children in a Rose Garden statement interrupted by the heckling of a conservative reporter.
As the president, standing at a podium outside the White House, explained why he was implementing the policy, Daily Caller writer Neil Munro began to shout questions, asking why Obama would want foreigners in the country instead of giving jobs to Americans
So let me get this straight: conservatives do everything in their power to extend the economic pain their policies caused, in hope of getting voters pissed off at the poor shmuck stuck with cleaning it up, and everyone knows that’s what they’re doing, they even admit themselves from time to time. Just in case the deeply partisan nature of the attack wasn’t crystal clear, it happens the reporter doing it works for one of the most nakedly biased privileged conservative punks to ever haunt the mortal world. And, yet, we have to pretend that that was salient point the reporter brought up and talk about what Obama’s record on jobs … we are hopelessly fucked for at least a decade if not longer.

“asking why Obama would want foreigners in the country instead of giving jobs to Americans”
Why don’t we ask the tougher question: why are companies hiring undocumented workers for less than a survival wage? They are the problem with “foreigners” – but they get a free pass because chumps in D.C. have them in their Rolodex. But since this gets too close to the truth about it, it wouldn’t be asked by the likes of that dishonest asshole.

The answer to your question is, “Too much regulation.”

Another question that would be better asked is why are we so concerned about immigrants, illegal or otherwise, coming to the US and “taking jobs from red- blooded Americans”, when a lot of companies are pretty keen about sending those jobs to other countries anyway?
I work in the IT field so maybe I’m not seeing the forest for the trees since it is a real possibility that my job can be sent somewhere else at the drop of a hat. As a result the off- shoring of various jobs, such as IT and manufactoring, seems to be a bigger concern to me than people immigrating to this country.

Large companies, by and large, are not. But they love illegal immigration anyhow because it suppresses wages as a whole. That’s why G.W. Bush was promoting a relatively enlightened immmigration policy — it was at the behest of his corporate puppetmasters.

I know two kids (a brother and sister) who will be affected by this policy. The state of Illinois has invested in their education for some time now. I have hope they can get documentation now so that they can get jobs and pay the state back in taxes.

Of course not. They hire subcontractors to do it.
