When you believe in magic invisible wizards, good and evil, you end up taking some strange positions. But politics makes for the strangest bedfellows of all in this case, where evangelical and now governor-elect Phil Bryant of Mississippi seems by his own stated belief to be working for or at least alongside the Dark Prince:
Salon “[T]he evil dark side that exists in this world is taking hold. And they’re saying, what we want you to be able to do is continue to extinguish innocent life. You see, if we could do that, Satan wins.”
There’s so many things wrong with this it’s hard to know where to stop. But I guess the thing that jumped out at me the most, if 100% of the souls of aborted embryos or those lost through ectopic pregnancy go straight to heaven … how does Satan win again?
Do’h! Via CJ in comments, “[B]ecause, if the patient, the doctor and the nurse are involved in the abortion, then that’s 3 souls for Satan. if you minus the 1 soul (of the zygote)for god, then satan wins by 2. simple.”

Because Satan = ‘Everyone that opposes his specific brand of Christiansanity.

Sorry to nitpick, but you misspelt, it is Christianity.

WHAT does Satan win exactly??

By religious lines of thinking, shouldn’t believers jump for joy when someone gets an abortion? After all, it’s believers who feel that god calls souls back to heaven when people die in car accidents. They feel that this world is transitory and that those without sin will move on to a better place. I don’t know if anything trumps “without sin” more than a fetus.
It’s also amazing that anyone could believe that satan is god’s arch-nemesis. According to the jebus myth, satan is just a fallen angel. The invisible man in the sky is boss and is all powerful. How does a wee lil’ fallen angel have the power to threaten the all-mighty?

I think he thinks the souls of aborted foetusses go to hell because they haven’t been baptised.
But if he is indeed wrong about that, what about the people who were sentenced to death and executed but were innocent all along?
“what we want you to be able to do is continue to extinguish innocent life” …

Well, no, I spelt it exactly how I intended. ‘Christiansanity = a portmanteau of ‘christian’ and ‘insanity’ designed to imply that the person being referenced is being particularly irrational about it, above and beyond the normal level of irrationality embraced by most christians.
But that assumes a new doc and nurse every time. Also, the mother is already going to hell for premarital hanky-panky! In the long run, God is definitely coming out ahead.
Stevarious says
It depends. Most of the time they go to heaven. But if they were executed by Rick (m’f’in) Perry™, they become guilty and go straight to hell!

A rather nice toaster oven.

The math only works out for the first abortion performed. Every other one is a pure “win” for the Bearded Guy In The Sky. By a woman’s fourth abortion by the same doctor, she’s solidly in the black, so to speak.

All God/Satan encounters are scored like a tennis match. In the case of abortion, Satan wins the set.

The doc and nurse are already going to hell after their first abortion. You have to back them out.
So it is the woman and the zygote. The zygote is going to heaven. The woman might already being going to hell anyway. For Cthulhu’s sake, she had SEX. How do you think blastulas are made? Not having sex in the approved way under the approved conditions means she is going to hell anyway. Might as well get an abortion.
Really if you do the math, abortion always comes out pro-god.
