Mittens executes an amazing triple flip-flop on personhood

Good grief this man is shameless, he’s not just a political chameleon, he’s a full-blown mimic octopus. Romney has gone from pro-choice to anti-choice and is now working his way back. Romney running against Ted Kennedy in Massachusetts:

“I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. […] I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years, that we should sustain and support it and I sustain and support that law […] you will not see me wavering on that.”

Which then morphed into this in 2010:

“I support the reversal of Roe v. Wade, because it is bad law and bad medicine. Roe was a misguided ruling that was a result of a small group of activist federal judges legislating from the bench.”

You know what’s coming next, right? Mitt Romney today after the Mississippi personhood initiative was crushed:

Mitt Romney’s campaign, seeking to nip a potent general election attack in the bud, says he’s being falsely characterized as supporting a proposed amendment to define a fertilized egg as a “person” that was badly defeated in Mississippi yesterday.

And of course he would’ve equivocated even on THAT, if asked yesterday before the vote.

  2. Aliasalpha says

If this level of political flipflopping takes off, they’re going to need something like diving judges to score the effort

If we build a super-light airframe and fasten Mitty to it we’d finally have a functional ornithopter.
