Herman Cain is famous for contradicting himself in one or two sentences. Such as saying he believes a women or family should make the decision about abortion — and it should not be legal. His response to a question about whether or not he would take a lie detector test was another one of those strange, vague statements, or as they’re rapidly getting to be known, Cainisms:
(Politico Herman Cain told reporters in Scottsdale Tuesday afternoon that he’d be willing to take a lie detector test if it were necessary to clear his name. “Yes. Yes. I absolutely would. But I’m not going to do that unless I have a good reason,” Cain said. “Of course, I would be willing to do a lie detector’s test.”
It’s another Cainwreck. “I will take a lie detector test IF I have a good reason” is not a yes. In fact one could argue it’s a no. That qualifier makes a big fucking difference. It allows me to truthfully write, ‘Yes, absolutely, I will jump off a 90 story building in my jammies, IF I have a good reason‘. And that’s one of the funniest things about Herman Cain, he can’t seem to give straight answers to simple questions … Hey, maybe Cain would make a better politician than we’ve been giving him credit for!

It’s a shame that no news outlet followed up on this with a story about how much lie detectors DON’T work.

I don’t have the facts to back this up, but I would believe Herman Cain on this one, if I had a good reason to.
