re: #2, “The school district will investigate and pursue criminal charges against the 11 year old.”
WTF? He’s 11 years old for pity’s sake! By all means charge the parents with something, but while an 11 year old should know right from wrong society should not expect him to yet understand the gravity, and potential long-term consequences, such that his actions can be deemed “criminal”.
And I’d love to see the parents of other kids at the school file a civil suit against anyone who has made public statements advocating more people carrying guns, particularly in schools, as a solution for Sandy Hook type incidents.
Gun sales are rising due to people being afraid for their safety in wake of the senseless violence of recent days. Below is an interesting write-up on today’s violence:
I read that about 89% people in the US have guns. I think majority of the people there LIKE guns, so the vote-bank factor comes up when the question of gun-control arises. “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” ~ Charles Darwin………..Dear Taslima Nasrin, I want to share something with you. Recently I met a doctor here in Kolkata. He said he believed in astrology and advised me too to go to one. Here in Kolkata, even doctors believe in those!
There are about 89 guns per 100 people in the US, but they are not evenly distributed. Some people own a very large number of guns, while the majority own none.
I like this quote : ” Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron. ” ~ Dwight D. Eisenhower 🙂

No – but those who do have guns often have many guns.

Not quite. The Americans who do own guns own enough for 90+% of Americans to have one each.
