I know you know I hate the FBI. They’re not just a stealth “secret police” they’re really bad at it. Basically, they had such a great self-promoter in J. Edgar Hoover, that they got a great public relationship through media manipulation and they have been coasting on it ever since. You know “we got John Dillinger” [Which was done by getting a tip-off and showing up and peppering him with machine-gun fire]
One of the challenges in AI is creativity: how do you make an AI that makes new things? For a long time, many humans privileged the human experience (as we do) saying that computer creativity was a hard limit.
One thing you have to say for the Republicans is that they present a unified front. They’re horrible, but they know how to “politics” – though, perhaps, they find it easier because many of them don’t seem to actually believe in anything except power and its application.
I’m pretty sure there are people out there who’d say that Fox News isn’t racist. But it’s pretty obvious, when you look at how they report things.
“Blowback” is the CIA’s term for “nasty things that happen because of something we did, which we did not plan for.” I guess that makes it sound a bit like it’s not our fault; it’s just something that happened, gosh, it’s time to move on already isn’t it?
Getting infected with ransomware is management’s decision. They just don’t realize that they made that decision; it’s one of those things like driving under the influence of LSD: you may have plenty of time to regret it if it turned out to be a bad idea.

I was listening to this episode of Snap Judgement podcast [the country doctor] and found my eyes kept filling with tears of shame and sorrow. As I listened, I realized that they were exposing the true core of “down home” America: racist but above all ignorant chucklefucks who don’t think – they robotically adopt the attitudes of their collective at church, and what they hear on TV.
This one managed to shock me a little bit, because of what it says regarding authoritarians’ view of what constitutes an acceptable claim. It manages to be worse than some of the worst/flimsiest justifications for torture that I’ve seen.
