I Lack The Fucks

One of the things I hate about myself is my ADHD-driven tendency to over-commit on projects; it’s simply impossible to do all the things that I plan to do, let alone want to do. Certain things in my life (like posting on the blog) are sometimes painful, because another part of me is going “Woof! Squirrel!” and wants to run around and bark up every tree in 100 acres of forest, instead. So, my TO DO list grows and grows and eventually I have to prune it by deciding that a lot of things just are not ever going to happen.

This is from Patriot Depot (one of my favorite sources of Tactical! crap and proto-fascist fashion) – ask yourself how many ways this could be done wrong: [patriot depot]

I am pretty sure you can get little lego-compatible bottles, and clouds of smoke could be painted pillow-fluff. Bullet holes are easy to make using a heated paperclip, etc, I don’t necessarily favor representing this as a full on fight but there are so many possibilities, including photographing the station as seen from a large crowd of sign-carrying lego characters. A couple of years ago, I’d have had the fucks but my fuck supply keeps draining and I’m pretty sure the tank has a leak.

I like that the “police” are diverse, ha, ha, ha, take that, libs!

You can also get this set: [patriot] in case you love lego and can figure out how to make a lego guillotine.

I actually did buy the “build Trump’s wall” lego kit they were selling (which is how I wound up on the email list) and a bunch of lego soldiers (enough to make a firing squad) and muskets, but I never got around to assembling a diorama.

There is limitless potential.

But there is already an official Lego Donald Trump figure. Admittedly they market it as “The Great Goblin” from their Hobbit tie-in range, but it’s definitely Donald.

Oddly enough, I needed a “build the wall” lego set recently (well, I mostly needed a bunch of 4×2 lego bricks for an online talk I was giving….) but this was mid-first-lockdown and I literally couldn’t find it… I ended up using some supersized lego-clone + playmobil.

Lego does make a motorcycle helmet, but i suppose if you have a gun you don’t need more protection
I wonder how Lego feels about the MAGA hat?

LEGO investigates copyright/trademark issues assiduously, but their patent on click-compatible bricks expired, so they don’t have an enforcement mechanism.

This year there was going to be a LEGO Technics set of a Bell V22 (Osprey) but it was cancelled *after production* because LEGO had (I heard) been informed by Boeing that yes, there would definitely be a civilian version for sale this year, and then that didn’t happen. LEGO doesn’t do modern war toys. Fantasy, yes. Semi-historical, yes. SFnal, sure.

    The official statement:

“The LEGO Technic Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey was designed to highlight the important role the aircraft plays in search and rescue efforts. While the set clearly depicts how a rescue version of the plane might look, the aircraft is only used by the military. We have a long-standing policy not to create sets which feature real military vehicles, so it has been decided not to proceed with the launch of this product. We appreciate that some fans who were looking forward to this set may be disappointed, but we believe it’s important to ensure that we uphold our brand values.”

They mean search and rescue teams trying to find the wreckage of the Osprey!

That’s a plane that lands so hard that it’s been known to fracture soldiers’ necks. I’m sure it’ll be a huge consumer success. Not as big a success as the 737Max but it’s going to be a great big pearl in the crown of Boeing.
