Uh, Err, be Careful your Colors are Showing…

This does not appear to be a photoshop job. It’s cropped up before and neither Mitch McConnell not the Sons of Confederate Veterans have had much to say about it.

This is only awkward if you believe in anything but power and maintaining your position in the establishment. If that’s what you believe in, then you’ll drape yourself in any flag that gives you a few votes. Although, to be fair, he may believe in what that flag stands for.

I can’t make out details of the plaque but it looks like an erection, and a bunch of confederate soldiers marching nobly toward defeat.

By the way, Mitch: hatred and bigotry are American values. Other than militarism, they are the US’ signature in history. Let’s change that, huh?

I think he means that American hate and bigotry are supposed to be couched in a stately and genteel manner, not shouted loudly from a brawling mob. You’re supposed to harm the people you hate by denying them healthcare and locking them up in supermax prisons, not running them over and beating them up.

You’re right! It *does* look like an erection.

In a couple of days I’ll ask the Partner about that plaque and what it is all the foofaraw on it, those are the kinds of things the Partner knows about.

It’s so lower class to actually put one’s booties on someone’s face. Especially if they might bite the foot. For cowards, all aggression is passive-aggressive.

I did a double-take, then a triple-take, then a quadruple-take with a twist and a full nelson. Once my brain interpreted it as a rampant erection, I couldn’t see it as anything else.

I note he was careful not to identify any particular side or flag when pretending to reject hate…

The photograph seen here, reportedly taken in the early 1990s at a Sons of Confederate Veterans event, was then proffered as an example of Senator McConnell’s seemingly fluid attitude towards the Confederate flag:

On the left a vacuum cleaner is pictured, and on the right you can see the tip of the Light Hoover Brigade.

Didn’t you know Mitch worked as a door-to-door salesman in a former life?
