Pretty much everyone must have heard by now about nutcase Colorado congresswoman Lauren Boebert being kicked out of theater in Denver during a performance of the musical Beetlejuice for loud and obnoxious behavior, taking flash photographs, and vaping.
She initially denied the vaping charge said that she had been ejected just for enjoying herself too much by laughing and clapping but theater video showed that she was lying (what a surprise!) and that much, much more was going on.
Boebert and her campaign manager initially denied that she was vaping and said she was removed for being too loud. But surveillance video obtained by the Denver television station 9News show the congresswoman openly vaping during the performance.
Two sources also confirmed to 9News that Boebert was vaping, a prohibited action that ushers attempted to address with her several times.
A pregnant woman reportedly confronted Boebert and asked the congresswoman to stop vaping, the New York Post reported. But Boebert refused.
…The CCTV video also shows Boebert’s guest fondling her breasts after they had taken their seats for the musical performance. Boebert is also seen petting her guest’s crotch in the venue whose patrons often include children and their families.
Boebert and her date were later removed by security in the second act of the musical as their disruptive behavior continued.
The CCTV footage showed a blurred out gesture which Boebert flashed at theater security as she was escorted out. Business Insider reported that the gesture appeared to be a middle finger.
According to a report of the confrontation from theater security, Boebert and her guest reportedly became argumentative with officials. “Do you know who I am?” the congresswoman allegedly asked, according to the theater security report.
After becoming aware of the wealth of evidence against her, Boebert whined about how things had been tough for her since her divorce in May, even though she had “tried to handle it with strength and grace as best I can.” Ha! ‘Grace’? That is the last quality that one would associate with her.
But there’s something else that struck me when watching the video and looking at the other patrons..
She is constantly moving around in her seat as if dancing, throwing her arms up in the air, and generally being boisterous, even while everyone else is sitting quietly in their seats, so that there seemed to be nothing going on during the performance that warranted such exuberant behavior. So what was causing her alone to act like that? It seems to be more than high spirits. Inquiring minds want to know.
Another little nugget in the news report was about her companion.
A report from the LGBTQ+ news outlet Advocate noted that the man who accompanied her to Beetlejuice was a Democrat named Quinn Gallagher who is the proprietor of a bar that has hosted LGBTQ+ events and drag performances, which have often been targets of the political right.
Talk about strange bedfellows!

Theater employees threatened to call the police, but the couple slunk out of the auditorium and briefly confronted theater employees in the lobby — with Boebert in a low-cut gold dress waving her finger and making threats.
“Do you know who I am?” she reportedly said, warning them that she was”on the board” of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and would contact Democratic Mayor Mike Johnston.
Boebert and Gallagher were then escorted outside the venue by security and Denver police officers and walked away hand in hand, according to the incident report.
The mayor’s office told The Post the congresswoman never followed up with them. A city rep also confirmed Boebert “does not serve on any of the City of Denver’s cultural commissions.”
This could be bad for Boebert. She just barely won re-election in 2022. While there are clearly people who will support her come what may because she is such a MAGA nutter, many people have a strong sense of fairness and do not like privileged people expecting to get favorable treatment by virtue of their position. It is one thing to make lunatic statements about Democrats and Joe Biden. But it is something else entirely to claim to be a regular person and then be obnoxious with ordinary people whom you claim to be a champion of. Any nothing screams that sense of entitlement like asking “Do you know who I am?” and giving the finger to lowly employees just doing their job. That tends to really rub people the wrong way.
I doubt this particular incident will be particularly influential in her next election. There is plenty of time for far worse behaviour to grab attention, and I suspect this will be pushed off the radar.

Could be enhancement by recreational biochemicals. They don’t even need to be illegal ones because coffee+nicotine is a thing. Could be that she really really wants to communicate that she wants to get in his pants; because Boys Are Dumb. Could be ADHD, because women can get this condition even though most folks I have known with it are guys.
I see there are other audience members who are kinda squirmy. I was surprised how few.
Also, she is moving about and fidgeting *a lot* even before she starts vaping and taking photos.
Personality condition? Drugs? She does not act like a normal visitor.
If this is how she behaves in congress, her own party should freeze her out, regardless of the cause of her conduct.

Hard disagree. It almost always works, which is why they use it. It may not work to get one out of murder, but it gets the rich, famous, and/or powerful out of lots of everyday problems. Again, that’s why they use it.
The thing is that when it works, we will never hear about it. It’s when it doesn’t work that it makes the news. This selectivity in which outcomes are most likely to be publicized results in the misimpression that the tactic does not work.

Every time I’ve seen that sort of frenetic boisterousness cocaine, or some derivative, was either definitely involved or was highly likely to have been involved. What she/they might have been vaping might have played a part but that sort of extrovert assholishness is generally associated with abuse of a strong stimulant.
It was nice of her date to carry her purse out when they were leaving. Or was that a tactic to avoid any connection with what was in the handbag? I guess falling on that grenade might qualify as chivalrous.

The version I heard had the bloke push to the front of a queue, rather than walk up to an empty desk, and when he was rebuffed by the woman behind the desk, he said “Fuck you”… to which she replied “You’ll have to get in line for that, too.”
