This story touched me even more so because the puppy is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who looks just like Baxter the Wonder Dog.

I can’t imagine not doing everything possible to save a friend, especially a non-human one.
Okay, not to be a Debbie Downer, but that was a pretty small baby alligator. If it had been an adult alligator, the dog would have been an appetizer and Richard would have been the main course.

Clearly, you’ve never had an alligator of any size latch onto you hand.
Back in the day when alligators as pets were a thing, a friend had an actual baby alligator about 16-inches long chomp down on a finger and his screams were heard around the neighborhood.
There’s video on YT of a large alligator charging a 4x4 and chomping its tire, then ripping it right off the rim. F’ing dinosaurs, man!
re hypenman @4: I have never had an encounter with any alligator. And I did read the description of how Richard’s hands were wounded. But if he had tried that with an adult alligator, he would not have lived to tell the story. It is as simple as that.
Being the owner of Miss Phoebe Dog, the greatest dog in the world of course, this clip really pulled at my heartstrings.
BTW, I hope Baxter is doing well.
