In the state of Kentucky, heavily armed and masked protestors of the pandemic containment measures entered the state capitol building waving their weapons without any hindrance from the security personnel. What is strange is that umbrellas and stick are prohibited. Even one of the gun-toting people was surprised that they were allowed in so easily.
Astonishingly, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal, visitors to the capitol building are banned from entering with umbrellas or sticks that are used for protest signs because they can be “used as weapons,” but guns and rifles are permitted.
Joe Gerth of the Courier-Journal tweeted a video showing security officers instructing armed rally-goers to go around the metal detectors while entering the capitol building.

…In a video posted by the Journal, one of the fully armed attendees was amazed by the access his group was given to the capitol building.
“Walking into the state capitol completely blew my mind,” the gun-toting protester said. “Being able to walk in completely armed, with guns — I mean, I’m completely armed. And they trust us. I’m not a Kentucky resident. I’m from Virginia. A complete stranger. I walked in, [and security acted like], ‘Cool, come on in. Enjoy the capitol.’”
It is not unusual for unarmed protestors at demonstrations to be treated harshly by police and other security personnel. But wear a mask and carry high-powered weaponry and suddenly you get VIP treatment, at least in Kentucky.
In Denver, the situation was a little different. Nurses wearing scrubs stood calmly in the middle of the street blocking protestors in vehicles from going to that state’s capitol buildings, despite being harangued by them.

One woman in a car, holding a “Land of the Free” poster, leaned out of her window and repeatedly yelled at the male counterprotester to “go to China” and other “hateful” things, McClaran said.
…“Go to China if you want communism,” the woman yelled at him. “Go to China!”
It looks like tensions are rising around the country between the majority who think that the pandemic measures are a reasonable precaution and a minority who think that they are a violation of their freedoms. Unfortunately, the minority is a lot more vocal and they have a lot of guns.

Every liberal should buy a rifle now, so that whenever we want to have a peaceful protest, we will have a legal stick to which to attach our signs.

I sometimes think that is the only way to get this country to enact sensible gun control legislation -- Enough people of color buy guns and walk around with them visibly -- the problem is too many will die.

There are coup- plotters around the world looking on enviously. They had to shoot and throw bombs getting just to legislature. Things are so easy the US.

Funny I can’t carry a gun into the capitol when the senate is in session. I thought they were 2nd amendment fans.

My understanding is that semi-autos are allowed into the capitol building because they can be used as umbrellas.
