This campaign ad in a congressional race in Arizona for Democrat Steven David Brill, who is running against Republican opponent Paul Gosar, looks pretty run-of-the-mill until you get to the end.
I am guessing that Thanksgiving dinner for the Gosar clan is going to be somewhat strained.
John Morales says
I did watch it to the end.
Looks like a typical political attack advertisement, condemning an opposing candidate.
Is the interesting thing that the family of the candidate being attacked is part of the attack?
I can’t dispute that’s uncommon.
(Utterly uninformative about actual policy stances, but that’s par for the course)

That’s an interesting family. I bet their holiday get-togethers are super fun.
John Morales says
So… I indulged myself.

Me, I’ve been married for [counts] 35 (!) years, but that’s since the Catholic ceremony I endured for the sake of our families — we eloped much earlier. Also, I have no children, by mutual design and to my eternal satisfaction.
(And I think familial groupings are the second-smallest level of tribalism)

That’s one dinner I would like to be a fly on the wall. Btw, the ad says his name is David Brill. Your text says steven.

StonedRanger@#4,
Thanks for pointing out the error. I have corrected it.
G Pierce says
Ouch! That’s harsh.
